NIIMC 26th of May

It will be on here Island centre Lisburn. Who's going? I am tempted to make the trek up to it but I shudder to think how much I will spend in fuel tho.

Damien.

Quoted so you cant go back and edit as usual.

If you dont have anything decent to say, would you not just keep your snide comments to yourself?

As a member of the NIIMC, we are expecting a bigger turnout this year through better advertising, support from Lisburn City Council and representation from Donnelly Group (FIAT, Alfa and Abarth) and Charles Hurst Specialist Car Division. The Lagan Valley Island Centre will be making snacks available throughout the day with an Italian Breakfast and Lunch menu available. There will also be some exhibitors and local companies there to promote and sell a range of car related products. Last of all Auto Italia magazine will be there to take photographs and do a report on the show.

It will be good to see all the Alfa Owner members from the from the south up as it will be a good show and hopefully a day with great weather.

Firstly, it is with regret that I am posting this as a first contribution to the forum.

I was a regular reader of the AO forum up until a few years ago when I started to visit less and less regularly because of the inane drivel and snide comments which became prevalent in the Irish section of the forum. Now I am resident on the island, and have in fact gotten to know quite a few people with accounts here from shows and events in the country down through the years. Every so often AO gets a mention and I think to myself that I should probably get involved.

And then you visit to find snide and cutting remarks like this about people you have known personally for years. People who's skillset and talents you envy, and who's cars down through the years have all been prepared to extremely high standards.

And the most frustrating part is that these comments seem to predominantly emanate from 2/3 members at most, but they are enough to keep people like me away from the forum, and when I meet other people from on here at shows during the summer and question the behaviour on the forum they mostly share the same sentiment about 2-3 regular posters killing off this particular area of the forum with ill-thought-out personal comments, sniping, poor technical advice, etc. Now I can't say for definite as I browse this area far less because of these reasons, but if this is how people speak about it face to face then why do the Members, Administration, and Moderators allow it to continue ?

These same members who seem to drag down the tone of the forum seem to cut apart and find problem with so many adverts brought up in the Cars For Sale thread, and from reading they appear to do so without even carrying out an inspection of the vehicles in question. Loose internet talk which could damage somebody's chances of selling their vehicle. And then the Admin here seem to allow these same members to open new For Sale threads on used vehicles they have purchased, carried out work to, and then sell on at a profit. Now if that's not double standards then I'm not sure what is. Cut and snipe at other people's adverts for their cars and then open threads on here to sell your vehicles and wares.

If I'm not mistaken Lacken156 you've received multiple life-time bans from AO before for these antics and repeated carry on. But yet you have always signed back up here again.

Your posts above read to me as a personal insult and unless you know this person personally and have inspected his many vehicles and restorations down through the years then I don't understand why you would post such ill-informed and uneducated comments.

Sadly, my first and probably last post on AlfaOwner.

I think I'll stick to the real world where you learn to meet people personally and respect them, rather than post snide and deriding comments from your keyboard at home.

As my old school teacher used to say many years ago; "The Empty Cans Rattle The Loudest".

Yours,

Disappointed.

If you know Stuart so well you would know that he posted pictures of his 'fibre glass' repairs to his Integrale.

You, too are been snide, in your assessment of me. Who are you, 1st post & you come out with so many deatials about me, are you MY STALKER?

BTW I have never talk down any car thats for sale unless I go see it & report back my findings. I offer advise to others with regards to viewing/buying cars.

BTW2 Admin/Mods are well adware of who I am & who I've been.

Whatever Lacken had to say, and whether it was right or not was none of your business. Who the hell do you think you are signing up to this forum giving your "holier than thou" speech? If you had a problem with something going on in this forum, then why bother to sign up to post absolute rubbish about something you have no clue about. We were happier before you signed up and will be happier again if that was indeed your "last post"

So go "stick to the real world" and mind your own business! In future if you don't like it, don't visit here.

I think Frank said what I was going to say best to be honest. Lads this snide remarks etc has to stop. Unless you have full evidence of the car no being repaired properly and to be honest I'm not sure what intergrale you are refering to as I've only ever seen Stuarts red one he has finished and that is a stunning car from the build thread and his own website and is to be fair a credit to him.

I know this is going to sound childish but can we all not just get along without the frankly childish comments and remember Ireland is a tiny place, the AO section in Ireland is even smaller and stupid arguments like this over what is the internet makes us out to be very amateur etc.

Of course it is Stuarts meet as he is the head of the NIIMC all this thread was set up was to find out who or what are willing to travel is all.

Damien.

Despite what some might think, especially some of the more recent members
&/or those who don't regularly visit the Tech Lounges both Frank & Disappointed both make some valid points.

It is disappointing to see negativity creeping back in again. As has been previously said in both this & a few other threads a while back it is off putting for new members & I think it's fair to say it 's not exactly encouraging for existing members either.

I remember back in the day when I joined up there were only a few regular Irish members, thanks to Damien & a few others the numbers have grown a lot over the past few years.
It does no favours to those who are & have been continually trying to promote AO as the friendly forum/community over the years which fortunately it is on the most part.

It'd be a pity if the behaviour of a couple members damaged all the good work that has been done

No wonder. I was talking to some members here that have like a couple of posts, and they've felt "bullied" around here because they were asking some basic questions. I won't go into further detail but forum policing isn't doing any good for our little section here.

Just my 2c.

Exactly what I feel too people need to look beyound the internet and remember that if this was real life would you walk up to a person and go straight to their face here your car is full of filler just because(you heard or saw or someone else said that they read it on the internet this is how something small and maybe throw away comment can turn from a molehill into a mountain)

Personally I think the cars for sale thread should be closed as were there is a lot of agro there and people jumping up and down for no real reason even myself people have attacked me for defending a car that I know is right and honest.

As the lads have said, this crap is begining to creep back into the Irish part of the Forum and all it does is damage the community and people making the effort to come along to meets etc.

I could say more but the lads have pointed out above the main points and to be honest I don't think there is any real reason to say anymore on the subject and if people have problems with other members PM me and I will sort it out I have no problem as I have said on many times and occasions before I am the same here as I am in real life.

I'd let it run, remember before it existed there were daily threads about cars for sale.
As long as a few people take a :CHILL: pill it'll be fine

I wonder why, perhaps if you treated others online as you would like to be treated you wouldn't have so many online issues with others.
I don't think it's a coincidence you've been banned from more than one forum

And he's gone

Don't mean to gang up on Lacken but I agree with what David P says. I have been a regular contributor to this forum for a lot shorter period of time than most of you frequenters so i probably don't have much of a say but over the past few months I have noticed a lot of hostility from Lacken towards other members on this forum.

It's uncalled for and really unnecessary. Everyone on this forum who I have met so far are 100% bang on and this forum really doesn't need this negative vibe.
