Mooney New Rule to be implemented

A proposal currently being approved by Fine Gael which was originally compiled by the guys running the NCT system in Ireland has leaked out, that a car that is registered and is aged over a new rolling 20 year date, should be mandatory scrapped, unless the Minister himself gives a one off exemption to this ruling.
The minister has indicated in the yet to be issued report that there will be no more than 20 exemptions issued each year for all of Eire...

if you would like to voice your opposition to this, here is the Ministers contact details:
[email protected]
Phone (01) 604 1062
And please put in todays date and the place where you heard about it in the e-mail.

I don't know about that... as long as the scrapage exemption rule is in alphabetical order we should see a lot of our cars staying put!

The lads at the helm of this country are desperate for more Äuros and will probably try anything to get more... I could see the bulb/hi-vis jacket/first aid kit rule coming in here eventually.

Pointless Story : This one time, at bandcamp........ years ago I heard some lads in a bar convince one of the lads in the group that if you're car is failing on emissions a drop of Irish whiskey in the fuel tank 'just' before the test will clean out the crap.. but it would only work on cars with a carburetor. When the poor lad asked how he could tell if his car had a carburetor he was told to ring the AA and give his reg plate.. they could tell him.. nice friends.

I convinced Mrs PDF, that the reason tractors leave a trail of manure behind them is, so cars driving over it will splash it onto the hedgerows, and fertilize them..!! :mygrin1:
