Cry Like A Baby 2 weeks of frustration are nearly over!!

Ok so two weeks ago wednesday drove my GT to cork (from killarney) to have it serviced by Lee Garage. Dropped it off at 9 and went of down to Kinsale for the day with the gf. All good so far.....and then..

At lunch time got a phone call from Mike, service done but problems found, namely

1. Injector Seals
The injector needed to be taken out, cleaned and reseated or sealed or whatever
2. Turbo pipe needed to be replaced
3. Handbrake cable

So when I heard injector problem I was like ok Il book it in again for the following Wednesday.

Went to work thursday, finished work and sat in, pushed clutch down started lifted my leg but the clutch stayed down

Got the car to local garage, slave cylinder gone, wouldnt be in til tuesday.....

Got the car back tuesday and then off up to cork wednesday to get the above list done.

Gave the car to Lee garage, they rang, diesel specialist was out on a call, injectors wouldnt be done til thursday. Brother lives in cork, i was off no biggie...

Got a call thursday at 1 they were working on the 3rd injector and hed ring again in 2 hours.

Then he rang at 3, he told me the engineer had been standing facing the engine with a spring in his hand, the spring sprang out of his hand and down the injector port and into the cylinder resting on the piston head. The head was going to have come off the engine, spring removed, and then new seals, TB and water pump.

Getting it back tomorrow, cant wait, so if you see a blue GT with a smiling driver hightailing toward the kingdom please give a wave, never got one in Kerry.

I have to say Lee were v good to deal with, not giving out just someone might get laugh out of the story

IMO, the head related work [ removal, skimming, new gasket, re-fitting ] should not be charged for, they made the mistake, you didn't ask for the timing belt & water pump to be replaced. Was it due anytime soon?

Lacken...what are you saying ??

Are you saying that it doesn't matter what sort of mechanic you have,Dealer, indy or backstreet....as long as they know what they're doing with your Alfa ???

no, what I am saying is that if THEY dropped a part into the engine resulting in the head having to be removed, THEY should pay for that aspect of work/bill. Replacing the belt & water pump should be considered a 'good-will' gesture to help apologising for their mistake.

I'd have to say Lee Garage certainly know how to look after their customers. They kept you aware of any issues that occured & 'man-d up' to the mistake that happened.

I did find that a bit strange, in a good way, Im sure there are a few garages around that would have told some story to play for time or told me i needed a new TB kit anyway and then charged me.

Paul (i think) took me through what they did and what i should watch, anti roll bar, lower arms, sound guy

Pricey but I would defo use them again

Us Corkonians always recommend the Lee , they only tell you whats wrong with the car and what needs to be done in the not too distant future ! The bones of 600 to 700 yoyo's saved there . Paul knows his Alfa's alright
