Insurance !Again

Just a heads up ! Insurance is up on the Veee and the quote I got was not bad to be fair but then bieng a mean fooker (except for buying coffee's ) decided to shop around mostly on the WWW . So I check all the Web only sites and lo and behold get a quote of 320 for myself and wifey . So as the Insurance is up on sunday I decided to pay for the Ins there and then ( as looking at the insurance details everything looked the same ) . This was tuesday this week . Anyway my current company rang me on wed and was wondering whether I was renewing or not . So I told them that the quote I got was 70 yoyo's cheaper and stated that it was 123.ie . The guy said that be carefull as these "internet" only companies do not cover all the legal costs and have various limits to what they will pay . He said that before you get the insurance make sure to check this . So I rang 123.ie at 8.45 am (next day) and they waffled about this and that and I pushed them for an answer which is there is a bloody limit !!! Then when I told them I didnt want to go ahead , guess what they have a 40 E set up fee which is non refundable .. FFS they hadnt time to scratch their ar5e as it was 7.55 pm the night before i gave them the payment , I'm sure they had loads and loads of paperwork done at 8.45 the next morning ! The worst about is that I have to wait 7 days to get my refund (less the 40 !)

So just wanted to warn ye young fellas out there as us Ol guys can get caught too

Run away with my wife kill my child but dont touch my car

CYCLISTS! THEY PAY NOTHING I TELL YA NOTHING
FRANKLY i DON'T GIVE A DAMN
IF THE ABS LIGHT IS ON ITS TOO LATE !
100% OF NON SMOKERS DIE TOO

I'm with 123.ie. They charge €40 for any amendment to a policy.. If you change your vehicle..forty quid, even if its just temporary. I had to change to a hire car (supplied by them) when I crashed the Celica. They even charged me a tenner to swap the insurance over to that as well.

On the upside though. When I wrote off the Celica (paid €2800 for it). They paid out within a week. The full €2800, less the excess €300.

Never really had any probs with them. If you ring and they say they will ring back, they always do. Can't say that about any other company in Ireland (pet hate of mine...)

I have been with Aaron Insurance brokers for the last few years, they have been great to deal with.

It's same old story..
I went with the AA this time... By far cheapest..
Was with 123.ie last year.. They jumped by over 50% this year...

Insurance it's a difficult thing... Essentially it's you paying a lot of money every year just in case you have a prang... I like to keep costs down, it's only way to make them move, even if it means using crowds like 123.ie

I've saved a fortune in the last 3 years by skipping the whole.insurance thing......

Naw..... Ya the cost is on the up alright.... I've our cars with aviva... You can set up a web login profile thingy and its free to move the policy from Car to car etc... Also free to add temp drivers like my dad etc.....

I'm dreading my renewal this November.... I've heard >10% increases?? This true for all companies?

EDIT: Dermo sounds like nasty small print there....

123.ie sorry Dermo, not ideal but 420 for fully comp with no claim bonus protection...

I've used online insurance companies before for cheaper policies ..

.. and then got my broker to price match which they have done for the last few years
TBH even if they couldn't get to the same price but weren't far off I'd stay with them as I've never had any problems with them, I know what cover I have & I've got no fees for temp transfers, a non premium number to ring them on etc.

But as Dermot says, there are so many different policies with so many differences in their terms regarding cover & extras that it's really a lot of work to make sure you are getting the policy you want.

Probably because you were too "in awe" of the Spiders beauty. Everything else was blocked out.

Or maybe you're just a deaf git..

Well Folks.......

Just got my Insurance renewal today from Tesco........

Last Year I paid 329:50, which was an excellent price.......

This Year its rocketed up to........ 498:65........

Nothing has changed in our life, and no claims have been submitted. How on Earth can they justify THAT increase.......

So, it looks like the Insurance companies don't us Welsh / Irish Alfa Romeo owners......

Many phone calls / Internet searches to be made from now on, till the renewal date in October, methinks........

Renewed my insurance with FBD yesterday, the quote in the letter they sent out was down €60 from last year, and when I rang up to renew, the girl said it was going to be €425 (was €490 in the letter) not sure how that happened but I didnt complain!

I also enquired about insuring a 3.0 GTV and they were nearly a grand cheaper than any other company!
