Unless its a V6 I have not much interest in this car.

Eitherways do you have a log book for it?
does it need much fixing up to get it thro an NCT?
any more details such as age? mileage? general condition?

Dave, As i already said unless it was a V6 I have little interest in it. If it is a V6 I have a 'project' in mind. So it wouldn't become a 'done-deal' special.

So can you post more details about the car? 4 cyl or 6 cyl? year? colour?

on a side note a person giving away a car for 'free' can't enforce a rule upon the new owner 'you can't sell it on again' .... imho that is a childish condition that won't hold up in any court in the land.

As Dave knows things 'free' cars always end up causing hassle down the line .... do you rem the Silver Selespeed 147 ..... geezzz !!!!

But then maybe not... as for any conditions i am "imposing" i think all the people here will appreciate a car like this being saved and not cut up but i have spoken to the new owner and he seems like a genuine alfa guy and has the passion and ability to return this beast to where it deserves. I also dont feel that remarks that you have made on this thread are in any way constructive or assistive to the preservation of a geniune early irish 164.

Pat I think what might be referred to is a gentleman's agreement not something that needs to hold up or not in court. I think what might be at issue is where the line is between hobby and business?

I'm no longer interested in that 2 litre 164 BUT I'm just trying to point out that I consider myself an Alfa enthuasist.

Even people in business can be Alfa enthuasist just like any any other Alfa owning person. In fact maybe more so as non-business people who owns Alfas rarely get weary of the working on their Pride & Joys while a person working on Alfa's day in day out, the shine wears off after a while & its sometime hard to get excited about the lesser tasks to keep Alfa's on the road...... oil changes, wishbones, etc.

To to have a 'Special Project' is a great thing to re-focus one passion for the brand.

Agree , but to have both( eg enthuasist and in the business) in one is rather nice , would love to be able to do the things on the 166 that require to be done as I have a second motor but I think I'll stick to driving it.. Ive been around Alfas for some time and have come across people that have worked in Fiat/Alfa dealerships that cant time a t-spark !!
