GT, is it more 156 coupe or 147 coupe?

I always thought an Alfa GT, say '04, was more of a 156 coupe but I was looking at one today & it occured to me that it more of a 147 Coupe.

Like a 147 its got CAN BUS, interior panels look very 147, even the dash is more 147'ish. Even the chassis number starts with ZAR937 which is same as 147.

So where did i get the idea it was a 156 coupe?

BTW it was a 2 litre JTS, man it could shift

The dash from the GT looks identical to the 147 ( original & facelift versions ) apart from a few changes to the lower section of the centre console, all the controls eg indicator/light/cruise stalks are identical, the seats are the same ( like for like ) as are the window/mirror controls & the interior/exterior door handles to name a few common parts.

The GT seats are different to 147 - much more supportive & sporty. Everything else internally (dash) is from a 147, apart from the lower dash by the gearstick which has a cover on the cubby hole. The A pillars are material covered in the GT as well.

I did say like for like re the seats, so it only applies to some versions, possibly only the F/L

now for the serious bit

"Like the 147, the GT was based on the same platform used in 156, with the coupé body styled by Bertone.[5] Most mechanicals are taken directly from the 156/147[5] using the same double wishbone front suspension and multilink rear setup as those two cars. The interior is based heavily on that of the smaller hatchback 147 and utilises many common parts. The GT utilises the same dash layout and functions , the complete climate control system as well as having a very similar electrical system"

Theres a Guy around the corner here who has one of the nicest colours in the GT very dark blue and he keeps it very well. We have talked to him about AO but hes not too good on the WWW. But will try and get him to a meet.. hes one of 3 or 4 who always give an Alfa wave when we pass ..
