so, an update after about 4 weeks of ownership.
When I bought the car it needed a couple of things. JCL was up front about the few jobs, so there were no surprises. I was away on holidays for the last couple of weeks, so left the car in to have the work done.
Aswell as a wheel bearing, alternator (whiney bearing) CV boot and a tie rod, I had all belts and pulleys (timing and auxillary belt, and tensioner) changed.
I picked the car up the other day and was finally able to clearly hear the 5 cylinder growl without the whine in the background. Its glorious, and will surely impact on my mpg, as I aim for that redline
The car was doing about 62.8 average indicated mpg, mostly on motorways. I hadnt done any proper calculations from brim to brim, but filled it today, so will be interested to see how I get on. I expect about 50 mpg, which is great.
As a motorway cruiser, its great. Stick the cruise on at 75mph, and waft along in 6th gear, see a gap, accelerate and before you know it your by whatever the obstacle was. One problem I have encountered tho, is that it would be very very easy to exceed the speed limit (by quite a bit) without noticing. The cruise control I think will be a licence saver!
Anyway, 1500 miles after buying it, I'm still enjoying it. Roll on tomorrow so I can drive to work!
