2006 GT JTD - What Price

Just wondering if anyone could give me a guide price for what a 2005 / 2006 JTD would cost. Prices are a little mixed on Carzone Alfa Romeo GT, Minimum Price: €0, Maximum Price: €0, Fuel Types: Diesel - Used Cars on Carzone.ie - New & Used Cars in Ireland

Looking for something that hasn't got too high mileage, a few extras such as Bose stereo, leather, 17" wheels

The diesels are holding their value much better than the petrols it seems. For a difference of 2k, that buys a lot of petrol. At a guess, i'd be guessing 5.5k for petrol and 7.5k for the diesel. I'm only guessing but everyone has diesel in their head so the petrols can probably be got for good money.

Yeah been browsing for GT's myself lately and your probably talking about 7.5k for a diesel, though some of them seem to be for sale for a long time so maybe room for bargaining.
Any reason why it has to be an 06 model? buy on condition not age, make sure all the jobs have been done

Thanks for the replies lads. No particular reason for 2006. It just seemed to be what was in my price range but if its the same model from 2005 in same condition I guess saving a few quid would be good. I'm not heavy on mileage but 90% of my miles would be on distances over an hour.

Seen one in red last night and got a little tingle down my spine at the thought of owning one. I'm on my first car now an 02 astra so it'd be a bit of a step up.

Other than the timing belt being done after 60k which i've seen here are there any other things to look out for? How long until a water pump change?

7.5k seems to make sense based on some of them on Carzone. I've never bought from a garage though and want to with this. I'm just not sure how garages work with their pricing and the kind o bargaining they'd do.

I recall there being a suspension issue on the 2005 models (i can't remember what the exact issue was), but this was rectified from '06 onwards.

The waterpump change should be done along with the belt change (at 60k or before). They have a tendancy to fail so make sure that the pump was actually changed.

You should take a read of this for other known issues Alfa Romeo GT Buyer's Guide

Ive had mine a few months now (1.8 petrol) and its pretty solid. Give me a shout if you want any help looking at examples

not sure about the gt and the 156, but if you can get a waterpump with the metal impeller, get that one.

Timing belt is 5 years/72,000 miles. Gerry Campbell didn't bother changing the water pump in my GT, said it was fine, still going strong at 90,000 odd miles. No water pump with metal impellers available for the JTD.

Don't bother with Carzone unless you must buy from a dealer. Donedeal is a better reflection of what you should pay.

Look for - leather, 17" wheels, MP3 CD player. Suspension components don't tend to need replacing after 5 odd years, but you may want to upgrade the components yourself anyway. Check all electrics and make sure the clutch feels good. I've had my GT over 3 years and it's a great car to own, with most of the money I've spent totally discretionary. Go for it.

You'd buy a nice set of wheels for the 2k less he's looking for than others. I'd presume theres something else wrong somewhere at that price though

Those look like wheels from a Spider or GTV, I'm not sure I've ever seen them on a GT before.

It's not just that. I'd say the interior is cack too. No point in getting a GT without all the trimmings

That does seem cheap and good mileage. I'd probably hold onto my alloys off the 156 anyways.

Source the parts yourself and pay for the labour.

Any recommendations on where to get the parts and where to get the labour done in South Dublin? Is this the part or is there more needed with it? Alfa Romeo GT Cam Belt Kits

I thought the official mileage was now 60,000 for them but that must be whats recommended where I was looking. Not really as much bargaining power as I thought i'd have on it

Was talking to that guy this morning. He says the ABS sensor on the dashboard is lit up and that cruise control isn't working. Not aware of any other issues but personally I wouldn't be willing to get anything that had any problems at all.

As always if something looks to cheap theres usually a reason

For serving, just go to Gerry Campbell in Ti Autos. Not that much a hike from South Dublin.

In the 500-600 range I'd say.
