Hey guys, need to get two bumpers sprayed on a 147. They're in green and my colour is the deep blue (forget the colour code). Have a quote of €300 for the two bumpers sprayed, fitted and new wingliners fitted. I've seen the guys work before and it's decent. Is this a good quote for a sprayer in Dublin? Or should I spend some more time shopping around? Any help appreciated..
300 for two wing liners and spraying two bumpers!
Sounds suspiciously cheap to me tbh. Done properly the paints and liners would cost nearly that much, and there is ALOT of labour in properly preparing and spraying two bumpers.
I would definitely check any other bumpers he did and how they are lasting over time wrt to peeling etc.
What the man said. I paid 500 euro for bumpers on my car. There perfect I have to say but that is very cheap. I know Cibo here got his bumpers done by a crowd by James Gate in Dublin and to be fair they where seriously good
After shopping around, yeah it is very cheap. I have seen his work before though. He did a lot on Liam156's 156, which he was very happy with. I don't know why I'm skeptical about the matching of the casual blue colour. My colour tends to look purple when dirty.. I'm hoping the bumpers don't stand out too much. Then again, my car is rarely dirty Dropped down to him this morning..
I'm supplying the bumpers and wing-liners obviously. Then he's spraying, fitting bumpers and wing-liners AND doing an all round touch up. In fairness.. His initial quote was €400 for the two bumpers, I just haggled him down to €300 and got him to do an all round touch up on small scratches..
Once these are on, new ignition coils fitted, new spark plugs, door handle, wing liners, linkeage arm, I'll be delighted.
One issue.. due to NCT complications I had to take off the two rear Eibech springs and put back on the original. I'm one Eibech spring short.. ANYONE know where I'd stand a chance of getting one lowering Eibech spring?? as my car currently looks like a high-heel shoe!

The matching of the colour will not be an issue and it is the finish that could make it reflect light differently if not done right.
From what you say it sounds like your colour is Inca Blue 743 same as mine - check inside the bootlid for the code.
Again though I have to say, that for 300 it just simply cannot be a top job and I would bet you'd do as good or better job yourself!
Alright man. That sounds v. reasonable. if you want to PM me your details i might be interested in getting my car done with yours. See if we can get a "group buy" discount?
It's casual Blue, checked yesterday. I am nervous, don't get me wrong. Student-budget prevents me from getting someone more reputable. It's getting done next week... I'll post some pics up when the job is done..
Lads she's being done as we speak. I'm getting the bumper strips colour coded (147). He said he'd have to prepare it appropriately as they aren't made to be sprayed at all. She's gonna look so cheeky when that gets done. but depending on time, may hav to get the colour coding done next week. Anyone done this before here?
+1 .. I'm interested too.. My 156 has had it's bump strips painted (silver) by the previous owner, but the paint is flaking away, and it's starting to look like a dalmatian.
150e per bumper is normal price for people who now where to go , can give you mobile to the polish guy who is professional and will take 150e . Sorry guys but times when everyone was overcharing on everything are gone it's recession now and only those that can adjust will survive
To those wondering, he was going to do the bumper strips as part of the 300 bob. He had a look at them apparently an said, even if they were prepared properly, they won't hold the paint and will most definietely flake as they arent supposed to be sprayed... So I left them..
Haven't seen the finished product yet but will see her at 11am tomorrow. Actually quite nervous and excited..
I'll be soon respraying and unbending my doors probably( if my insurer will agree) at my cheep guys as I had parking collision yesterday After that You will be all welcome to came and see results
To compare in Poland professional respraying of one element , bumper , doors etc cost about 70e with the same materials machines that you are using here , so 150e here looks ok but 300e is totally overpriced
Costs in Ireland are mental. Hence the bigger price. Your not comparing like with like to be honest. Sure in Poland you can get free beer and Vodka in Krakow I know I have been there. By the same reasoning you should be able to get this in Ireland too. I'll def be interested in the results cos if they are as good as my bumpers. I'll be getting them to do other work on my car.
Again I can't fully agree . You can't compare costs only looking on beer and vodka . 1l of petrol is 1.26e in Poland , Price of Machines , Cars , Electronics , Cloths are nearly the same as in Ireland and recently even higher.
Even simple thing as bills , you don't pay for water we do . 1kg of sugar now cost 1.2e and here 60-80 cents ?
Problem with recession happened because people didn't care about prices they agreed to be overcharged because they could always take another loan they didn't bother to save because they believed in cetic tiger , they were spending ridiculous money on things. Now they have to work hard for less to repay that mistake , because it can't be forever that guy who is holding for whole day stop/go sign on the road is earning more than educated network engineer
Few differing views above... Anyway got her back, personally I think it was an excellent job. It matches very well in the shade and in the sun. I asked him about the possibility of it flaking or looking dodgy after a few cleans and he told me if the colour wears off or changes or flakes that he would repair it no bother, but he HIGHLY DOUBTS it will.. Also spoke to a few of his older clients outside who swear by him.
Again, it's only a quick pic, and the lighting isn't perfect, but feel free to give your opinions on it, except for you Damien.
That is nicely done to be honest. Hey I'm not having an argument but I've seen it all. And I'm a fussy bollicks I was actually going to buy the car you have. I've seen ya driving round it in Dublin when I was working up there.
Could pls quickly put here some names and addresses/phone numbers? I need to get 2-3 offers for a roof respray. Obviously quality is important. thanks.
