Alfa Taxis- Do they exist?

Thought it'd be interesting to see if anyones seen any. Personally, I don't think I have. Thought I once saw a 156 JTD with a taxi plate, but I really think this was a dream. If anyone sees a brave taxi man with an Alfa, please take a pic and post here!

When I was working at the airport I used to see a few 156s, 159s and a 166 being used as taxis, so they are out there somewhere!

Same here. Can't remember if it was a normal 156 or a SW.

How well an Alfa stood up would be down to the driver and the area that the car is used in. A JTD shouldn't give many more problems than other makes. The cam belt cost and interval would make TS engines impractical. A problem on the 156 would be (drunks) not being able to find the rear door handles.
Finding any saloon car that can do the work is difficult. All of them have a downside of some sort. Most brand new cars will get to 80 or 100000 miles without too much trouble. Problem is that's less than 2 years work for our cars. With that in mind, how would the average 156 or 159 survive and what would it be worth at 2 years old with 120000 on it?

We've been running an all Alfa Romeo fleet of taxis for five years with only two major breakdowns in that time, not a bad record for any make of city cab!

I've seen a dark red 156 in Dublin loads of times, and I remember being in a 155 taxi about 15 years ago.
I've seen a 159 taxi in the airport once too.

One Double six you are so right they can't find the 156 door handles when they are drunk, come to think of it they can't find them when they're sober! I even had one guy open the front door of a 156 trying to tip the front seat forward l think he thought it was a coupe, I made him rip up his aplication form for MENSA

An Alfa taxi home at the end of a night?....... Now that would be "Carlberg" night-out IMO..

Paddy was the 155 driven by an Italian bloke?
I drove a taxi for 10 years in Dublin between 92 and 02...
I've blanked on his name but he drove a 166 TS for years as well and then bought a new Fiat estate think its a Marea?
I drove a full 2 nights with my 164 V6 when my VW Vento went in for a new clutch close to Christmas (thought it might not be ready before New Year).
Cracking start from a traffic light with some young lad in a Seat Inca van (someone was left for dead and it wasn't me)...

Cried at the pumps though....
