Leak in the passenger side door of my 159

Hello all.
Last couple of weeks I have noticed a leak into the front passenger side footwell from under the door. Looks like the water is getting in either around the wing mirror or the rubber strip that seals against the window. Has anyone here experienced this problem before and if so how did they solve it.

Pete

Hello Pete, Nasty.... Haven't seen this on my 159...........................yet.

Did you have the windscreen ever replaced by any chance? This can be a pain the a$$ to find... it's going to be a case of drying everything, door seals, rubber strips etc and sitting in the car while someone pours water over it from the outside to trace it back..

I've heard of using talc power to help trace a leak..... didn't try it myself as it sounds messy and may stain stuff.

I helped find a leak a long time ago on a 3 month old Rover something-or-other. It was coming from under the windscreen in the end....

Might be an idea to kick off a post on the 159 Tech forum... one of the UK lads might have had a similar problem too?

Cheers, Cathal

I had a leak in the rear drivers side door in my 155 last year and it turned out the rubber that channels the water down and out the bottom of the door was clogged with dirt so the water just seeped in, otherwise by opening the door you should be able to trace the seal all the way around to check for leaks or dirt

You will need to get someone to sit in the car and use a hose to see where the water is coming in ?

It's definitely coming in through the door somewhere...

Not yet Cherb but from what I can see it seems to be coming in between the seal at the top of the door and the body of the car, then running down on the inside of the sill and eventually down to the bottom of the door. Can't see anywhere else it could be coming in?? I am stumped to be honest.

hmmmm... does the door whistle at speed? Might have to go down the route of tearing off strips of newspaper and sticking in them the door seal-gap and watering the car to figure out which ones are getting wet... Are the door drain channels gummed up?
