This is the main news item on SKY News at the moment, and it is indeed sad stuff all round, 3 certain fatalities being reported by RTE, Sadly ....

It's terrible. Up in the terminal there an hour ago people were saying 8 people passed away.... but that's just rumour. I hope it's wrong.

The emergency crews were amazing though... they obviously trained very well for this kind of thing.

Ya, very sad, amazing record in Ireland we have luckily. 2 Irish, 3 British and 1 Spanish. 2 walked away. Amazing.

I'm in row 2 for a flight tomorrow, think I might go changing that to row 70 if I can! Hope the others make a good recovery.

This cropped up again a few days ago right? It seems a contributary factor was a torque differential between the two engines which, coupled with the bad weather that day caused the crash. Cant be easy for the families having it all dredged back up...

Yeah 5% difference in engine torque due to sensor anomaly..
But should have in itself not caused a major problem..

8seconds before the crash the left engine produced 9% less torque than the right one.. The engines blades were set to 40 degrees which was a TOGO (take off go around) configuration. So looks like they were trying a go around again. Once again a number of factors added up in series to cause this... Very sad.

Wonder how much pressure pilots (in general) are under commercially from management NOT to divert but to land?? Just saying..

kinda thought there would be some ceremony at the airport today.............

Yes you're right, there was a service in Ballyphehane a few miles away in the local parish.. just thought there might have been something in the airport itself....

You're one smart cookie Cathal. Any loss of life is a waste... Especially when preventable...
