All the Best Simon Maher!!

A bit cos he's got an alfa and a bit because he's just an all round top bloke.

Today was his last day hosting phantom daily on phantom 105.2 with the lovely Roisin, damn shame he was one of the few people on the radio (or anywhere) that could give an opinion without being contemptuous, rude or impolite but still not agree... (vincent brown take heed!)

He'll be a big miss on phantom, great crack (I'm english alright)

I know, I loved that show but for whatever reason they have changed the schedule and he wasn't in it, it was Richie Ryans last day doing phantom drive as well. I texted in today as well and managed to get it read.
By the way Simon is a member on here as well (what can I say he has good taste), so maybe he'll pop in and say hello, it would be great to have his contributions to the "today I am listening to thread"

Hey all,

Just wanted to say thanks for the good wishes. They really are much appreciated.

Pretty gutted to lose the show truth be known - have really enjoyed the last 4 and a half years of the show and was a real wrench to finish on Friday.

Never fear though, the Alfa is still going strong and keeping me smiling - took a nice drive on Sunday to clear my head and it really helped. Planning to upgrade this year, to another Alfa naturally. Will post details of one I saw in the sales thread.

Thanks again,
Simon

Are you gonna fill us in on why Simon or should I ask? Alison Curtis has good musical taste but yourself and Roisin were really good together on the show

Great to see you're keeping the head up Simon that's the main thing I'm sure there are many on here, including myself, that have been in the same situation.

So what do you have in your sights car wise?

Edit: Sorry, just saw your post in the other thread!

PS: thanks again for the Fightened Rabbit tickets a couple of months back

Alfa155, long story short is that new investors came in (us original "pirate" Phantom guys basically ran out of cash) so the bigger guys brought in their choice of partners who decided that they want to put their own stamp on the station. So, management are being let go and I happened to also have an on air position too which I have also been relieved of. Myself and Roisin had such good fun doing Daily, sad to see it go, and the only upside is that Roisin is still there with Alison.

Thanks Gav too, chin dropped for a few days but will move skywards again - there are many people in a far worse situation than me. And you're more than welcome for the tickets!

Have been saving for a while now to replace the 156, but obviously given current events the budget is not huge. I really do like the look of that 156 in the other thread though - hope its nice in real life! Ideally would like a diesel but would of course go for a smart 1.8 or 2.0 too!

Simon

Good man Simon!

As I was saying earlier it would you geart to hve your input onto this thread which is basically people saying what they are currently listening to. Myself and Mark (Alfa155) contribute to it a lot and you may recognise a good few of them!

I think the reason it is commercially successful is because you kept true to the idea, going from pirate to licensed you didnt change things, it still felt like the original station. ITs getting to be a very popular station but if new "investors" have taken over it will probably loose that originality and if that happens Simon it may be time to start up another station

I hate to say it but that alison curtis just dont cut the mustard, the new line-up isnt a good move imo.
Its a real shame to hear how it all came about too.

The new investors will regret their choices, its just not the same. phantom listenership went up because of the presenters and the content, if you take that away the station will nose dive.

BTW it was one of the coolest things when you played rage last christmas, do you think mizz curtis would do that!

All the best for the future, but we are officially in competition now (along with sulla) looking for a shiny new 156! happy hunting

I cannot believe that they now have Vogue Wilson presenting a show on this station now! This is Vogue "the girl with a mans voice from Fade Street" Wilson we are talking about here presenting Phantom Anthems :mad1: :mad1:

Michelle Doherty is great I think but the next two shiws Pearl and Clair don't have enough banter with the guests and listeners, tunes are still great though.

I love the **** take of your one when they did it on the Ray Foley show lol. Alison is useless imo and the music she plays is a bit crap all that crappy indie rubbish.
