166 in Limp Mode!

Finally got Alfa Diag to work on my laptop so I got a chance to read what fault was coming up, First was the Airbag light that came on last week, cleared that and all is well, the second is whats causing the car to run in limp mode, below is a copy of the information that came up,

Failed Component Code: Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit (Timing Sensor)
Fault Symptom: Above Maximum Limit
Warning Lamp Status: Warning Lamp Illuminated
Fault Test State: Test not complete for this Error.
Fault Code Storage State: Error Present at time of request
Event Count: 40 count
Environmental Condition One: Engine Speed: 1600 rpm
Environmental Condition Two: Relative Load: 27 %
Environmental Condition Three: Engine Coolant Temperature: 58.5 C
Environmental Condition Four: Air Temperature: 35.25 C
Environmental Condition Five: Throttle Valve Angle: 0
Environmental Condition Six: Battery Voltage: 12 volts

There was a second fault that I didn't copy (to do with temperture) but disappeared when I did a reset. the above fault reappeared.
Any ideas??

I got a lead off ebay with dip switches on it, switch 1 for ECU, 2 for Airbag.
Thanks for that Dermo, I had intended to do the cambelt and variator once the garage was finished.... and as the garage is finished (apart from the Door , the one and a half foot deep pit and no lights) it may be time to do it and the sensor while I'm at it.

I will cut off one of my legs from the knee down and that would be one and a half foot man

Ah stop, Mark is at least twice that height, Dermo that would be a one foot man with half a leg it might be easier for you to bring a shovel, dig another two feet and then use Mark!

If you're due a belt change then yes replace the sensor while yer at it, but you can change these sensors without removing the belts.
What I mean is dont do the belts just because of the sensor

Dont think its the actual sensor as it can just deside to run ok, will have to check the connectors first,

It's the blue connector, disconnect it and see how it drives........
Not sure of an easy wasy to test it, but I think you can watch the phase signal "live" in Alfadiag.
