new baby = bigger car needed

areet lads, just welcomed my little boy into the world the other day and all was going well. I put on his baby suit thing we got from his grandad (it has 'my dad drives an alfa' on the front!)
and set off for the 147. Its too smalll. I just bought it a couple of months back changed the variator, timing belt, oil &filter change and two new rubbers on the front. I can admit I got stiffed on this car cos it still needs a couple of bits and cost me alot to buy so Iwas thinking If I could get a nice 'ish' sportwagen for cheap 'ish' maybe I could sling together a couple of nice motors, keep the sportwagon and flog the 147. I know I wont make my money back on this one but maybe limit the damage to my wallet?

Sure I read about a sportwagon on here going cheap but I cant find the thread anymore.

and yes it does have to be an alfa (just bigger than the 147!)

Congrats on your son

I think it was Damien said he knew where there was a 156SW ? Also IIRC I've read in the past that the SW hasn't really got much more space than the saloon, worth checking out to see if it's true.

I think the one I know of is gone. But that one in the link looks very nice and is in a great colour. Cheap too.

Space wise there isnt a huge amount more in the wagon, it's the accessability though that would help a lot more. The narrow opening on the saloon 156 is a bit of a pita even for just golf clubs

Congrats too. 6 weeks? So you're starting to get a nights sleep so? ie more than 4 hours at a time.

Like the first one she only wakes once - between 3 and 5 am.
I give her a bottle and watch movies on the hard disk - last night it was the living daylights (well half of it) - liked Dalton as Bond - less brash and supposedly the purists choice as closest to Fleming's books but alas I digress....

After 6am we switch to dayshift ie missus....

Is it to late to recommend that you don't see that POS film?

I would be really worried for you if you made the decision to go and see that film rather than the missus.....

I haven't even seen it but you know that if a film franchise gets 3 films out of the 1 joke (ha ha "Fockers" sounds like the f word) it is not going to be good!

I actually enjoyed it. But I am married with two kids and a lot of the humour I could relate to....

Found it a lot less cringy than the first one and probably the second too....

You young uns!

Here is the best review of it that I know of, it is actually a recounting of the entire film based on scathing reviews, I love filmdrunk.com!

thanks for the congrats and the impromtu film review aswell, on the subject of films I saw inception finally last week and thought it was canny. (Barry Norman I'm not..)

saw another 156sw in red for 1500 quid. 01 with belts done, 123k on the clock though! it was on done deal also. been told to stay away from high milers but if its been looked after? I mean my 147 only had 45 k when I bought it and as was already mentioned I got stiffed!

also I got a lowering kit for the 147, 35mm drop. now would anyone be able to have a guess how much it would drop a heavier sportwagon?

Who said stay away from high milers? Once the suspension and bits are ok I wouldn't be worried. Sure I bought my car with 94k miles on it. And it's perfect but I wouldn't trust anyone who says the belts are done I'd nearly budget to get em done yourself for piece of mind.
