Nerd needs a NERD

Well , the problem is buying a Flat screen TV , My better half went into the Sony centre and bought a TV on the recommendation of the sales bloke . Now I went in today and decided to check with the "Other" salesperson's (sneaky jew that I am) and lo and behold he says that the cheaper version would do fine. Dont have HD but do have Sky and possibly a PS3 . Don't watch much sport only GP and anything motoring tbh. So the question is what do I buy ? The 2 Sony TV's offered model number KDL32EX503U and TDL32NX503 , would you buy these or are there better TV's for around the same price , one is 599 and the other is 699 . Vat back at a later stage

Only real nerds need reply seeing as this nerd knows PC's and lappies but TV's are way out there : D

I'm with you Dermo.. I point the thing with the buttons, at the screen. The little people that live in there come out and entertain me. Press the button again when they begin to bore me, and they go away..

Garage
I've no idea about the current Sony TV range but the expensive one is probably dearer for a reason & you will always get different advice from different salesmen based on their own opinions & priorities. You won't go far wrong with a Sony anyway, excellent quality & a 5 year warranty afaik

As Ghosty said check out AVforums for the reviews & comments on both

Yep. Had a Philips before and it broke down, and since I got my Viera more than 1 year ago, didn't had any problems. Check out specialised forums as well, it seems the in the last years Sony has gone down in quality.

I was told you'd need to buy a high end LCD TV to match the picture of the Panasonic Plasma.

I asked in 3 different shops if anything for similar money could beat it and was told no each time.

Have a read of this thread if you have a spare few minutes;

For that money you could get this..
Http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/prod...W/default.aspx
It aint lcd its newer led technology, better color quality, sharper but not that noticable on non-HD channels, would work a treat with a ps3 though.
I'd say the difference between the two sonys is MHZ, the higher the figure the less motion blur you get on fast movement, or the pixel quality might be slightly better, you'd want to have some eagle eye on ye to see a difference.
Sony are abit over-priced I think, I'd say Panasonic and Samsung are the dogs liaroidi at the moment, but if it's paid for, too late i guess! Still a damn nice tv to watch MotorsTV!

you are paying ALOT for a 32" TV.

if you are not a TV buff you will not notice the difference in HD ready and 1080p.

A 32" Panasonic Viera HD ready (720p/1080i) Tv will cost you nt much more than half and be every bit as good as the Sony
