Handbrake cable - how many spondoolicks?!

Well folks.

Handbrake cable snapped the other day, my own fault for not getting it done after the great freeze and thaw episode I had last winter but thats life. Anyway how much should it set me back for supply and fit bearing in mind I'm not sure which cable has gone. Theres absolutely no tension in the handbrake so maybe its not one of the rear ones but probably the central cable?

I rang around for qoutes and got two polar opposites one for 293 which I'm presuming is for a complete cable system. The other was for 80. Do either of these sound remotely correct??

Appreciate any input if possible.

I paid 38 labour 42.00 parts a year ago Alfa specialist.

Apparently not difficult for DIY repair - see here for more https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...e-trouble.html

I paid €45 for two of them last month in a local Motor Factors, worked out about €3 cheaper than micksgarage.ie if memory serves me correct.

Thanks lads.

I probably wouldn't do it myself, find it hard to trust myself with a knife & fork never mind a set of spanners!

The 293 seems ludicrous so I'll head to the other garage, get him to check out which cables and work from there.

Just to let folks know who may need to get it done sometime I got the two rear handbrake cables changed for 120 parts & labour.

Turned out it was just the left one which had gone but with winter coming best to do both methinks.
