Bank Holiday Monday

Hi Lads,

This day two weeks is a bank holiday So am thinking of winding down the windows and taking a spin through the port tunnell for the craic sometime in the afternoon/evening. I'll probably have a hangover to nurse so thats why I'm doing it later in the day. So if anybody is up for this let us know, if there is enough interest it might turn into a mini meet. Because its a bank holiday the toll fee is €3 so its the best time to do it and it should be relatively quiet aswell.
Does anybody know if Octane still do a port tunnell meet? I know they have footage on youtube of their last one.

Regards

Dont bend the rules, Rule the bends

well its better than paying €12 which is the normal toll. Still even if you do 2 runs €6 is ok for a one off trip. Just think of the noise Rob

I should be ok for this. Id advise meeting in town somewhere and making the run towards the m50. no need to stop/get caught after making all that noise. Speed limit is 80 but thats plenty of rpms in second

I love the noise in tunnels but have never been in the port tunnel, is there speed cameras there?

A Port Tunnel mini meet in the new year sounds like a good idea. Wire your fans direct to the battery and keep her pinned in first

I read somewhere the tunnel operator can take over your radio or phone and tell you to slow down.
Lol "you in the alfa slow down" que many brake lights.
We should go on a tour of multi-story car parks after the tunnel! Dont you get 10mins to get in and out without paying a fee? vroom vroom!!

IIRC, theres like a radio channel that you need to be on whilst in the tunnel, it's more like a news feed. Total b0llix if ye ask me, although Paddy, I do want to hear ur car in the tunnel

Its in English, if you just read it out loud..!

There they are. They they go
Forty lorries in a row.
They aren't lorries they are trucks
Full of hens, and geese and ducks.

Makes perfect sense to me

To answer a few questions starting with Gavs, anytime I have been in it the trucks do the right thing and dont take up both lanes although I might check the ferry times to make sure nothing is docking around that time. I'd like to meet in town alright so as I can turn around at the M50 and come back in it again
afaik the cameras in it are for traffic and accident monitoring, not for speed although its not something I want to fly through the longer spent in it the better. The limit is 80kph but I'll probably just be using 2nd and 3rd to get the niose going thats what its about.

I have read on Octane that they had a tunnel employee waiting at the end of the tunnel after an v fast & noisey run through. Can remember who it was though.

Anyway, a legal run is 3 minutes end to end. if its a small group I dont think we'll have any issues.
