You know that sinking feeling...???

Driving home today on the dual carriageway. Poodling along, not speeding or anything. Noticed a traffic cop BMW Batten-berg, two plod in it, coming up behind me. Checked my speed. Deffo not speeding.
Got to the traffic lights, and he pulled along side me. Tried not to glance his way, but when I did, he's indicating for me to wind my window down. All manner of guilty thoughts going through my head, but couldn't think why he'd want to talk to me...!

"Nice Alfa you've got there...!"
"Erm..! Thank you very much..!"
"Looks very clean for the year..?"
"Yeah, I only washed it this morning.."
"A credit to you... I always liked Alfas myself..!"

Lights changed, and he's off with a wave.
Such a relief, I can tell you...

Seen them again further up the road. They'd pulled a young fella in a red Civic.
Cop sees me going past, and waves again...

Sometimes lifes a blast.. Didn't feel sorry for the guy in the Civic though. Just glad it wasn't me..!

I was st in the local petrol station filling up. Plod comes out of the garage and heads straight for me.
Did a quick mental MOT in my head.... what could he get me for..... nowt.!

Turns out it was Mike169 from here who's got a rather nice GTV Cup. Exchanged a few pleasntries and he was off to fight crime once more.

So not only have they families... mortgages.... some even have jolly nice motors too.

bees knees that story reminds me of when i first got my bella, decided to treat the missus to a weekend in Malta, flight was early from Dublin so we left Waterford at around 2am, so when everyine is headin to the nightclubs. cops in a landcruiser follow me up for a few km's and on with the blues and twos and i stop... oh bolloks! i had forgotten to pay for the tax, as i work out my oscar performing excuse he walks over with his colleague and says is that a 2.4 turbo petrol? i explain its diesel and he says fantastic looking! smiles all over when all of a sudden he says ok theres no one around try and beat us at the take off.... wtf!!! he lines up and 3-2-1 off! guess who won??!! they were impressed and we were on our way... some cops are di3kh3ads but many are nice!

Had a moment like that at a checkpoint one night. A female Garda waved me to stop, looked at the discs in the window then comes up to my door and the first thing she said, "Nice car, had a good night?" .. I was like, yeah

She was FIT though !

I have gotten away with some dodgey driving in the Alfa due to it be an Alfa and not a Civic but I got my points in the post today for driving the work yoke diaster.

Nice story, made me smile (although I don't believe Ireland's finest can appreciate anything nice).
Similar story happened to me once, at the NCT (MOT in the UK, WoF in New Zealand), the examiner opened the bonnet, then called the other guys over to show them my shiny inlet pipes. I was behind the glass in the viewing area, grinning like a idiot - but a very proud one
