Aftermath thread from CDA

Thanks for everyone who came today and made effort. Have to say it was a good day and enjoyable and as usual we had all weather today.

Firstly thanks to Paddy for letting me take his to say the least cleanest GTA in country for a spin that diff is epic can't wait to get mine now.

I got 113.1 Fwhp and not sure what whp I'll check it in a min lol. I know it got 108lb/ft of torque which is decent I think comparing it to the 1.4 which only had 84 but the 1.6 engine only has 10 more bhp. The engine still has 95% of it's power even though it is a 97k miler and 10 years old.

Mick164's 166 was impressive to say the least and so was JK's french yoke

Get the pictures up lads. And last but not least thanks to Nick for today and listening to the abuse for the day.

no bother man, glad you liked her, she's a nice driver, and has a fantastic turnin circle as you saw.
Oh and for the results.
236.7 flywheel HP
206.8 ftlb flywheel torque
192 wheel HP!

I have to find out who murdered the power on me, first things first, some good maxol petrol and octane additive and see what happens after 6k rpm.

Ya, I would get the ECU checked out and to see if there was actually anything done to it. Ya it has a spectacular turning circle but it sounds mint and does pull like a train I have to say.

Sound out!
When i'm down with gerry soon i'll have a chat with him, see what he thinks,
Might look into giving it down to nick again after a service, if its the same, i'd give it to him to remap properly for me. He's strike me as the type of bloke that does things the right way, no messing about.

Twas' a grand day out alright. Still can't hear properly after the constant noise of that big fan. Or was it Damien...

139.3 BHP
120 Torque
114 BHP at the wheel.

When is the next meet, and where. We should get one in, before the end of the year. Ideas, any one..?

He mapped my friends modded Celica and he is really happy with what Nick did to be honest and was quite resonable for a full map on the car. He got his car originally mapped in England and well to be honest it was a diaster. He made the power and tick over even with high lift cams much smoother and it has a better power curve etc. Gerry would be where I would start first that man has as you know an abundance of info on them engines.

A little vid...

Youtube can't seem to decide what what format it is. Jumps from 4:3 to 16:9.
Watchable though.

..that was an enjoyable day out, thanks damien..!

i had one of my 164s on a rolling road years ago, but it's much more interesting to do it in a group where you get some perspective. it's not just about the peak figures either i suppose.. as the day goes on you get a much better understanding of how to relate the graphs to the car's actual performance.. fascinating

nick was cool too, and very knowledgeable.

yep i was happy with the '66.. figures were;

223.8 bhp at the flywheel
215.8 lb ft at the flywheel
180.7 bhp at the wheels

the torque figure seems very high.. it should be 203 lb ft in theory, however when you look at the graph there's a brief peak at around 4500rpm. if you ignore the peak it's over 200 lb ft from 4200 to 5800, which is a decent result.

the only mod to the car is a ragazzon straight-through centre section, so maybe this created the small peak..

anyhow, great day out, and thanks again to everyone.. i'll have a fresh airfilter for the next one..!

My vote for car of the day goes to your 166, absolute beauty, very closely followed by franks 33!

Jayus Mick don't be saying thanks to me at all. As usual it's thank you to the people that made the effort of coming along and making the day that it was. Ya nick is a sound man and does know what he is at to be honest.
