Engine Oil

Hi All,

Anyone know which is the best oil for my 2.0 166? Should I put Selina in? And if so where can I get it in Dublin Meath area?

Just get any decent 10w40 Semi synth oil. Selenia is expensive and not that great imo. I used Mobil One and Agip 10W40 for all of our Alfa's for over 10 years and it seems to be fine.

yeah, i'd agree with Damien, 10w40 is the way to go (again any good quality one), i change the oil in the 166 every 6 months just to keep her tip top!

I'm the same, expensive stuff, but long lasting. My twinny used to drink the oil, i've put 1litre of selenia into the v6, in 11 months, i get it off gerry campbell in T.I.Autos, and as far as i know barrables in airside retail park swords has it too.

I've got Castrol Magnatech 10w/40w in my 156 at the moment, could only get Selenia online, so when I changed her oil I couldn't be arsed to wait for an online delivery! She's done 500 miles on it at the moment with no movement on the dipstick at all.

The V6 is different to the TS engine there lads. And hence the 10W60 is overkill for the TS engine.

Just come across this thread. Im going to top up our 2.0l at the weekend and just checking what oil to use?
You guys wreckon 10w40 but the manual reckons 5w60 and a dealer i spoke to said 5w50???
Can anyone give a better explanation as im a bit confused and worried about using the wrong type? How critical is it?

Paul

JTS is it? Then it would be 10W60 for that engine. It's what we put into the 156 the last time anyway.

If it's a TS then you should be 10W40 are you sure it is a TS man? And not a JTS I didn't know they fitted the 2l TS engine in that car.
