Story basically is a friend of his kept it in his mothers house for years and years, then recently offered it to Gerry, he took it and now his son is going to use it as a spares car for his 1750 GTV, so there is some good to come of it.
Its a pity because it is actually a 1300 Step front model which go for nearly 80,000 with a GTA conversion in the UK

Was looking at this today, fairly rough alright. Didn't think it was a step nose though, hard to tell without the nose 2 litre lump fitted at some point and looks to be in good enough shape.

I'd love to see if welder.ie could fix it . I just remembered an Opel Manta A restoration. I think it was worse than this.... I'll have a look now

**edit**
This isn't the one I was thinking of but it's still fairly bad

I love Opel Mantas, use to be lot up my way when I was small. About the only decent Opel. M y Da used to have a lot of Vauxhauls and they rusted and fell apart in no time. Funny though how only Alfas held on to that reputation when a lot of brands back then were just as bad

Eh, funny!!!!

Is this the Carb rigmarole and when I eventually got some, he gets that spares car with Carbs on it,

Or is it one of the multitude of other funny (but expensive) stories in relation to my car.

How's it looking, I haven't seen it since July

Nope, not my car, he must have 2 red Berties.

Mine is 72 KE, with no rear seat.

Phew, I was worried there, had I done something really stupid, which wouldn't be unusual.

So tell us the rear brakes story?

Yep thats the one he was talking about any, maybe he had them mixed up. He sadi the owner of the car was at Classic Car Live in Mondello, had it out for the parade lap, then a few weeks later had it in with Gerry and he noticed that the rear brakes were actually siezed! The owner said ge thought it was a bit sluggish!!!

Yep, he must be getting mixed up, I had my car at Mondello, but I didn't do the parade lap.

Although, my front brake calipers had to be replaced, but there was no drama to it.

Having said that, he is welcome to redo the rear brakes too and charge whomever had the 'sluggish one'.
