Alfa Romeo in Motorsport ?

Just wondering if Alfa as a manufacturer is participating in motorsport lately?

Was just going through some old Youtube videos and I remember when AR won a few years in a row at the European touring car championship with the 156. There were rumours of a run of a few thousand rear-wheel drive 159 to race in the US but never came to pass as far as I know.

Have a look at this old clip of a 2003 WTCC race, it'll put a smile on your face:

Garage
There has been no factory backed Alfa team in motorsport for a good few years now

Those WTCC 156s were great back in the day They also had a few good results & wins during their last few years where there was no development & very little funding, just goes to show how good a car it was even after other makes had a extra few years development

Yep, the whole point of buying Alfa's imo wass for the racing it's something that goes all the way back since they where concepted Alfa's they go hand in hand. And I bet why they sold so many 156's was not that it was a great car to handle and drive etc but also the fact that it was a savage car around the track destroying the RWD Bmw's quite a lot even when they had what is regarded a better set up RWD etc.

They really need to get the finger out and start a race series sure there racing the 500 in england and it seems to be a great success for them. And all racing is basically free advertising imo.

And there's your problem - Fiat sees Abarth as its sporting brand, not Alfa.

Thats a lovely bodykit on that 156, can they be got for a roadcar? you'd need some offset to fill out those arches!

It can be done...for around 10 grand or so! One guy has it done fully, a guy in Poland I think actually. Autodelta do a conversion.

Was a great morning
I've put a few pics up
https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/meets...niversary.html

Weather stayed good, was incredible to see so many cars in such fantastic nick.
To have 3 Alfas was amazing!

Unfortunately I timed looking at the 8C 2300 wrong - owner had fecked off for coffee - wanted him to open up the hood so much... oh well..

Hope a few others made it.
