thanks. Found it the 166 manual finally...

The car i was looking at had some damage to the rear driver side wheel arch .... I wonder if the rear wheel got a bang also and set the abs light off - which I guess will also affect the VDC ?

The code for the information system is also missing ---> owner say battery was disconnected and he cant find it -> is it a big deal to get the code from Alfa ?

what year is the ics? there is a code calculator for old versions, but try 4444 first. otherwise it might cost you 40-60 €.
does it have gadgets? dsp, sunroof, zender, phone, xenons etc? pics?

This is it....alfa romeo 166 for sale in Kildare: €1,850 - DoneDeal.ie

It looks good in the pictures but not so good in the flesh....

It has had a "tip" which has damaged the rear wheel arch on the drivers side....

Most of the history has been trimmed out also --- owner does seem to know very much about it --- its one of these side of the road dealers....

The big problem is the ABS/VDS warning lights which I suspect may be due to the "tip" on the rear wheel...

Going for another spin in it today

just be aware of the list of options:
"leader sits navagtion.system..electronic sits"
I see the car has 66k miles, and 8 years old, so the 2nd timing belt change is due - which is about 1500€ if done by a dealer. Also, check the springs/shocks, exhaust and radiator. Open the padded panel in the passenger footwell, and see if there's any moisture there. If the ABS and VDC light is on, check the ASR light by the gearstick.

but

Are you sure it's safe to drive?

Poor spelling alright, but that's a nice looking car (shame the V6 badge has disappeared).

My ABS and VDC lights have come on for no apparent reason lately-was used to it happening during the 'Big Freeze' but not sure what the cause has been of late.

The car should still be 'safe' to drive, but not as safe as it would be with the driver aids of course....take it easy in the corners if you do drive it and the lights are on.

Ideally, you need to get a diagnostic check on the car done to show what the faults are-theredx19 has the kit, might be worth getting in touch with him to see if he can assist.

Cowboys Ted, they're a bunch of cowboys!
