Newbie hello

Hi all, just popping in to say hello. I currently have a dead 156 and a Mito on order in Cork. Details are on this thread https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...and-downs.html

The 156 is being scrapped but it has KONI FSD shocks on it , they are only a couple of years old. I could probably find out where it is going to be scrapped if anyone wants a bargain.

If you looked at the other thread linked in the 1st post you'd SEE it was an Etna Black Mito

Thanks for the warm welcome. We have a Red 156 1.8TS but it died on the M8 on Monday, coolant pipe burst, crispy engine. Pain in the *** as it only needed to keep working for a few weeks. Some of you may have seen it around Cork, A mad neighbour had keyed every panel on it so its bodywork was in an awful state

Looking forward to the Mito though, the choice was between Red and Black, ended up going for the black as we think it looks best, but its close. I know black cars are a pain to keep clean so i have been stocking up in detailing supplies.

Wasn't sure about the front of the MiTo myself at first, liked the rest of the lines at first sight, saw it at the Top Gear show two years ago next to the 8C (yummy). The more I look at the front the more it grows on me, kind of a 1950's look to it. I do think the headlights are slightly off though, probably a little close together.

The Cabin is a nice place to be, very upmarket for a small car. Surprising amount of room in the back too, probably not far off the 156 and a reasonable boot as well.

I will post up some pics when I get it.

welcome - and good luck with the MiTo.
They've grown a lot on me too - still prefer the rear or side view to the front..

I saw a black MiTo in my rear view when stopped at lights a little while ago at dusk and must say it appeared quite menacing in that light with the headlights on. Didn't ever expect to think that of one but it looked

Yup, certainly played a part in our decision, should be reasonably fuel efficient too and a bit easier on tyres and have folding rear seats. Still a hoot to drive when you push the little swich the D. I agreed with most reviews about the steering, it is a bit playstation, but i'm sure i'll get used to it. Probably a price for all the safety technology. Pity we couldn't afford the cloverleaf, oh well, next time mabey

I am so bloody angry, the recovery service that the Insurance company sent out to us on Monday quoted €120 to deliver the car home. The missus asked specifically if she had to make the decision straigh away and they said no rush. Rang today to arrange delivery and they want €220. They claim that the insurance company would have covered part of the cost on the day but that now he would have to go back to the motorway and couldn't possibel do it for that little. We wouldn't mind a bit more but €100 but no moving him.

He then said we could report the car broken down again and get the insurance company to cover some of the cost, basically make a fraudulent claim so he can get some more cash. What a bloody cowboy, i hate these type of rip off merchants, they are the reason all our premiums are so high

Well we paid him his bloody money but I have contacted the insurance fraud website to ask their opinion and will probably write to the insurance company to tell them what we think of this kind of teatment. I wonder how many other people he had stung with this stunt. I hope it is the last job he ever gets from an insurance company, especially with so many decent straight up business people struggling to survive

Ya the same thing happened to us when we had a little bang in the 146 . We paid 250 to get the car towed when our insurance policy covered towing . Did the guy ask not on your life and we paid the 250 because we knew no better . I feel your pain but let us know when you get the Mito , would be nice to see the car in the flesh .
