Gerry Campbell got someone to come in and do mine during a service-I was happy with the result-may be worth giving him a call to get a number?

There's also a thread on Boards on DIY-would you be willing to give it a go yourself?

I tried the DIY option on my 147 and a bottle from Halfrauds, seem to work fine for me....saying that it could have been a pure fluke too.

I think you can hear the pump/compressor (thingye) starting up, and if cold air isn't thrown out, then it's empty.

Must be the weatherbecause I picked up a recharge bottle on Friday. The AC is working but I think it could be colder. Now I just have to find the recharge point.

This is handy.

..i think there could be more to it than a re-gas ;

a couple of weeks back i thought i needed a re-gas too.. coldish air with the auto set to 17C, but not really cooling the car interior. it was about 13C outside, but the sun was shining so the interior was heating up.

anyhow a couple of weeks later it was 26C outside and the aircon was blowing ice cold and keeping the interior perfect at 17C.

i think what happens is that the climate control also uses the outside temperature guage as a measure of how much work it has to do.. if it's 13C outside and you want 17C inside then it presumes it doesn't need to blast you with freezing air.

solution is to manually reduce the temp setting to "LOW" for a bit... i suppose when the sun shines in italy it's actually warm..!

(i'll repost this in the 166 section and see what the others think...)

Had it on "LOW" manually, and 16 degrees, manually...both the same cool, but not icy cold. That's why I'm guessing it needs a top up..

Did anyone find the regas point on their 166? Had a quick look, but can't see it.
