My new painted calipers

OK - finally got off my backside to do this. Been wanting to go for it for a good while now. I think the red really sets off nicely against the black body and horseshoe alloys.

Picked up my gear from Halfords - wire brush, cleaning wipes, caliper paint, medium and detail paint brushes. Once each wheel off, plenty of dirt/brake dust to be cleaned off, but the wire brush worked well. Then the painstaking bit - 2-3 coats of paint for each corner and then a bit of extra touching up. Got through 2 wheels on the saturday and 2 on the sunday. Happy with my lot, ordered some white Alfa decals off eBay. When they arrived I was a little lazy and stuck them on with the wheels still on, reaching behind the horsehoes to stick them down. Really happy with their quality, although they probably could have been positioned a little better by taking the time to take off the wheels. Will have to see how they hold up over time and some hard breaking, but all signs good so far.

Anyway, time for the pics:

Hi Tim, they look good
But! you need to seal those decals on with some lacquer otherwise they will be shot in no time.

Did it not come with the calipers painted red? I thought iot might have been standard on your car?
Looks great though and as has been said I think they have to be sealed as well.

Nice job.
Making me envious... Not sure why AR put stupid grey calipers on the cars. Red is soooo much better

I think the TI versions may have come with red, but not standard models.

Gonna have to check the sealing issue now. The paint tin itself said sealant wasn't necessary, but I can't remember if I looked into it or not for the decals. I'll have to try and see if I still have the instructions and what they say.

Either way I'd say it would be a good idea to give it a harder surface and less places for the brake dust to get wedged under

I did mine last year but applied the decals while the paint was partially dry. They haven't budged yet.
