Alfa 159!

156 vs 159

I was just wondering today, I see so many 156's on our roads, literally I'll see 4 or 5 or even more everyday. Why is it that the 156 seems to have comparatively far outsold the 159?? Bearing in mind the 159's been on sale since 06 so pre-recession by 2 years! Almost the only 159 I ever see is mine

Partly because the 156 was available from 98 to 05/06 so available for 8/9 years, it was also a popular rep mobile back in the day.

The 159 was a big step up in price from the 156 so far fewer sold & it was not an option approved by many fleet managers due to it's price & also due to the fact that so many 156s had cambelt issues due to Alfa's original 5yr/72K cambelt interval which many cars didn't reach

I guess that makes a lot of sense Dave, I was thinking the price must have been different because even say the absence of many 159's suggests people weren't willing to take a punt back in 06 whereas you'll still see a few 99-00 156's tooling around, not many looking in great nick now, but they're around nonetheless. Cheers for the reply!

..alfa sold 400ish 164s, 400ish 155s... and then sold 7000 156s..!

i'm not sure the dealer's service departments were quite ready for the jump mind..

It was voted European car of the year when it was launched and it was a great looking car back then, even better now in my opinion.
