I use a fella called Brian (for detailing) if you want his details. He is very good and a previous Alfa man too.

Just an update (bit late but that's the way life is !)

Well handed the car in on monday 12th April. The car was with him for 2 days and when i came to pick it up had to wait till 7 pm after arriving at 5 pm. When I picked up the car it was kinda late and sun was shining which made the car look well. But while leaving there was still some of the polish on the car , it seemed strange that this would be the case with a car bieng left for 2 days ! The interior was not cleaned (part of the 300 euro price !) it was hoovered imo and thats all. The engine which was my main reason for leaving the car there and wasn't touched . Now after 2 days I expected (especially when they state they are professionals!) a far superior job than i could do myself . When I got home and after closer inspection I rang ANDY of detailer.ie and left a message on his answer machine. I also emailed him to express my dissapointment with the job but got no reply .

So will leave it up to yourselves

You should pursue this in getting part of your money back.. This is unacceptable.

That's not good & bad form that he never got back to you, not very professional to put it mildly

If it was me I'd be posting a similar thread on octane & boards, that might at least warn others or get you a reply.

Thanks lads but Rob not really worth the hassle as I have other issues at the mo

@Dave .. posted once on Octane and just look at the threads on there . It seems that more expensive cars (!) are his cup of tea. But as they say my euro is as good as any others . It seems that his brother got married on the saturday before I left the car with him so draw your own conclusions !

But still, 300 yoyos is a lot of money in this recession.

or rather give you a full refund. as a compromise they can also take the car back to finish the job, and give you a replacement car for free.

Dermot it seems to me & I'm sure anyone else who reads this thread that Detailer.ie don't put much value in their "professional" reputation

Now they are famous for all the wrong reasons

If they had just returned your call or replied to your email & maybe attempted to resolve/deal with your complaint/comments they could have saved themselves this negative publicity which could cost them a lot more than €300.

I'd consider them offering to do the job properly again as a solution though possibly not an option for you due to your & their location or at least a partial refund of the difference between a valet & a detail as it sounds like you got a valet not a detail as a fair offer.

Come on Detailer.ie sort it out & do the right thing & prove how professional you are by showing how you deal with customers when things go wrong. It's not too late to save your reputation.

You should make the complaint again and reference this threda and any other thread on octane etc. where you have brought it up and they will soon change their tune and re-do it. My cousin, girlfriend and I were all considering getting our cars done there but after this performance we definately will not....

Anyone any experience with these guys

I know lads but when they don't reply its kinda hard to get any satisfaction . @Dave it seems like it was a Valet ok.. as it was the pics on their site that sold their services to me . The difference one see's from the before and after shots of cars they did are/seem incredible and its what I was looking for when I picked them from all the other detailer's and as the info from their blurb:-

"A good 80% of our details are based upon paint correction. We have specialised in this area since the forming of Detailer.ie about 2 and a half years ago. We have corrected over 300 cars and assisted the owners with keeping them as fresh as the day they rolled out of our studio.

During a paint correction detail, we use the best tools and products to cut back the clear coat which gets rid of swirls, bird drop etchings, tree sap stains etc. It takes roughly a day and a half on average, for a regular saloon sized vehicle to be corrected. Due to our experience, investment in the best equipment and passion for perfection - you can rest assured that your car is in good hands."

Errm no !
I was told by Andy that the paint on Alfa's was quite "thin" ? Now in my little knowledge of Alfa's it was my opinion (and from others that know better) the paint on Alfa's is not thin at all and is far thicker than other main stream marks . But then again i may be wrong .?

Alfas have normal paint levels (120-140 microns across every panel), it's only really jap and some extoic cars that have thin paint, even then it's rare. There could be an issue if you car has had paint correction before, especially if it was "corrected" with a wool pad and FCP, that is a really aggressive combo. It's a pity you're so far away because I would love to get the PTG on your car and call his bluff. I can't promise anything but I'm not ruling out a wee roadtrip and I'll be bringing my PTG.

I would love to know for sure . If you are coming to mondello I hope to have the scrapper of a 166 i bought with me

Really I've read his reply on Boards.ie. He makes me out to be a real **** ! I'm supposed to have given the car a good going over FFS I had 20 seconds to look at it and even when I noticed some of the polish left on areas around the car there was Mr Detailer cleaning them off as I talked !

These were taken By Baby (aka Katy) on the day I picked it up in the UK

Actually here is a copy of his email re price for work to be carried out ? This is what he quoted me , if he had quoted anymore I would have paid it ? I'm a bit confused as to where his 330 came from?

I replied by saying that did the 75 yoyo's include interior & exterior which (and I have a copy of his reply) he replied to with a yes!

At no time did he ask what condition the car was in . In fact he commented that the car was in fair good nick when he first saw it . A bit of poetic licence methinks . I was actually on leave on the wednesday and he gauranteed me on the monday at 10 am that he had plenty of time to do what I asked . If he hadnt I would have stayed there the extra night . He rang me at 4 pm to say there was about an hour left to the finish and I arrived at around 6pm ? So in fairness to me I think he had enough time to complete the JOB . At no time did he say he hadn't time to finish . The exhausts, door sills and door surrounds, boot (interior) were not touched at all . Maybe their part of the interior and engine bay ?

Dunno, I'm 50/50 at the minute, it depends on the weather really. I'm coming from Derry and it would be a long run if it's going to be raining. I'll let you know, if I do go could you organise a video camera to record the readings as I take them to prove they are from your car?

**edit** I forgot to say that the the 166 seems to be a nice straight car, it's a shame your detailer let you down.

The fact the he admitted to leaving polish dust on the car when you came to collect it says a lot

I'm also surprised he didn't post up the pictures he was talking about, if I was in his position
I would have posted them in that reply.

Ya I've said my peice over THERE . Look we all have bad experiences with various people/services etc. It was shabby workmanship for the price. His brother got married on the Saturday and it seems to me he didnt start the car till late tuesday . Any way I know where I wont be spending 350 again.
