Very few from what I can see-I can't remember the last time I saw one. Rare enough in the UK as well I'd say. It's an Alfa I want to own some day, that's for sure.

I nearly bought one so there would have been 2 in the south! but may be another (non f/l) one in Cork shortly if all goes well

I've only come across 4 Irish registered Series 2 166's since they were launched in 04. A stunning metallic wine one on the night of a Republic of Ireland match in Ballsbridge, think it had a CD plate so probably an Italian Embassy car, dark metallic grey one on sale in Cork on car zone for a long long time, metallic silver one also on car zone but came and went quickly and a Nuvola Blue one in South Dublin Alfa in Goatstown which as Dermo discovered is not for sale but in for some work. Superb looking car, nearly, but not quite, as attractive as the 159

Agree the 159 (especially in Ti spec) is a superb car both in looks and handling , for a biggesh saloon they can handle and have comfort thrown in as well.

I saw a black 166 f/l for sale from a Belfast dealer on Used Cars NI about a year ago. It did not stay on too long. Before I caught the Alfa bug i'm afraid. It was a 2.0 if I remember correctly.

Finding the 'right' Alfa in NI is a nightmare

Yes I have seen some nice examples on Carzone.ie, they just don't get the whole Alfa thing up here at all.

If it aint German, the good folks of NI just don't want to know.

Ovation, I got my 166 in Northern Ireland As for the 166 v 159 in looks, I always liked the rear and side view of the 166 but I always felt the front lights were too small and the front looked droopy, the earlier model always sat low in the front but this seemed to be addressed in my 01 166 which sat higher in the front. In my opinion the F/L 166 is just gorgeous, it now has a front to match the rest of the car, the larger lights and grill make the car stand out. The 159 is also a lovely looking car but I prefer the 166's front, its a bit softer where as I think the 159 is a bit too aggressive, I also don't like the way the rear sits a bit high.

Oh you are totally spot on about the "Mainland" but as for the "6 counties" it is poor my friend. My former boss bought a GT when they came out and I loved it at first sight. However, he spent most of the time driving a 147 loan car. That is how people see Alfa up here, nice motors but not worth the pain.

sad but true.

Spotted a Navy Blue F/L 166 on the Naas Road many months ago. 2.5 V6 with tan leather interior (Saw the head rests).
Gorgeous car!

Oh aye, I know, not much choice in NI itself, have seen some nice cars on usedcarsni from time to time though.

First GT I ever went to see was in Newry but by the time I got there it was sold!

Plus, I think ye pay more in NI than you would on 'The Mainland' for cars.

I bought the GT in England-one of the best decisions I ever made!
