Alfa 33

on Donedeal.ie

Alfa Romeo 33, 5 door hatchback for sale in Dublin: €1,750 - DoneDeal.ie

Buyer states it's a rare car. How rare would that be though?

I went to see it-and ended up buying the 155 from him instead!

Are you interested in buying or just curious as to how rare they are? This 33 is the only 1 for sale in Ireland at the moment that I know about and I don't think I can recall seeing another on the roads around Dublin/Kildare.

I know someone with a Black 33 1.7 in his 'showroom'

I've seen 2 for sale on e-bay recently-both in the UK-one was a pretty good looking red 1.7 cloverleaf.

Just curious CCOVICH, ended up going to the 33 forum on here and browsing the pics there, some lovely looking examples there.

Yeah, unfortunatley, I wouldn't call the one on Donedeal a lovely example. Probably in decent mechanical order, but cosmetically it's no prize (nothing serious mind). The colour isn't appealing and it would need a set of alloys IMHO.

Also, it's weird to drive-everything is to the left (for 1st gear, you kinda have to have the stick over at the passenger mirror) and the pedals are really close together. They look good in black.

I didn't get to take the car on what I'd call a proper run, so can't really say what it would be like to own.

Cowboys Ted, they're a bunch of cowboys!

I've no interest in getting it, it's a 156/9 for me!

The black ones on the 33 forum looked class alright

I know the man who owns this car, was only speaking to him today. He's decided to keep it for the moment as a daily driver. As to how 'rare' are they..well I've read on many forums how people lament the fact that you never see 33's any moe, and how great the car is, and how they regretted selling their own.
Anyone who know me knows I own a few 'rare' Italian cars, now I'm talking worldwide rare, rare as they only made a few in the first place. And I can say this with certainty, there are more of my model car in the country than 33's. And one day there will be none, so if you really want one, get 'em NOW.

Over a million cars produced and the only major issue I know about is rust. The car I drove didn't suffer from rust and on a dry day with less traffic, I'd say it would have been fun. The boxer engine is a bit of a legend as well.

I was looking at a picture of Fluffyduff's 33 there over on Octane and it's a lovely looking car.

It's not on my 'Alfa wishlist' but someday, who knows....

Anyone who's interested or wants a blast in mine over the weekend just let me know.
With a bit of luck it'll keep on ticking for the whole weekend.

Its very hard to put a value on the 33's. They very rarely crop up for sale here and I personally think that they are in the grey area, (the series 3 cars anyway) between old car and sought after classic. Given the work and cash gone into mine, i would't let it go for any less than 2500 (and even then I'd have to be badly stuck for cash) but realistically, its only worth 650-850tops.

fun cars though

IMHO any Alfa with a boxer engine is valuable. Just love the sound. Frank is a lucky boy

I would love a 33 but I'm afrid that they will be a money pit simply because they're so rare and I'm guessing parts are rare and expensive too. They can only increase in value imo.

Parts arent bad actually. You can generally get everything from a good motor factor within a couple of days. The filters are on the shelf in halfords believe it or not. they can take dogs abuse mechanically so its only rust you have to keep an eye on.

He did in so far as to be chuffed in selling something he didn't think would sell. All he's heard from people over the past while, is how you never see 33's any more, and to find an original Irish registered one is quite difficult.
As regards boxer engines, most 33's with these engines are bought for the engine. As they are used in many different applications (mid engined racecars for example, and some kitcars), plus of course earlier suds and sprints.
As regards parts, while filters may be easy to get (remember these are also fitted to dozens of various modern Fiat group cars. Things like body panels are a different matter. Easy to get but cost will render any big body repair uneconomical. Things like indicator lamps are also being deleted from Fiats original supply.

Regarding the 33, its been sold. He'd advertized the car some time ago for 700 Euro, had no callers, so he upped the price, had more callers, and finally sold the car. He'd offered it to me a while back but as I only wanted the engine and box, I decided it was too good a car to break.
There's a lesson there somewhere...

Ha! Fair enough Kevin, I was kinda worried there for a sec.

That's interesting on the 33 alright, I hope it's gone to a good home.
