Who Bought This 156 GTA?

Hi Folks,

While browsing the net religiously lately for a cheap 156, to see me over until the house sells I came across this (see attachment - ad now deleted). Unfortunately I didn't have the funds to hand.

The plan was to source a 156 GTA later this year from the UK, but even a cheap '02 with high mileage & the VRT would still not work out as cheap as this one attached.

Anyone know who bought this? was the seller a member on alfaowner?.
I would be interested in buying if it comes around for sale again.
Ideally I'm after a black, low mileage, late model '04- '05 156 GTA selespeed with Q2, was always a manual man but after a bit of research on the sele it seems like fun!
After reading this thread - https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...e-gtas-19.html - I would be luckly to find one.

Is there many 156 GTA's in the Republic? I have only ever seen the 2, one being a '03 - D reg, red with, 666 in the reg, always see it around the Leopardstown area were I'm from.

Anyway NCT or not, someone got a bargain with that Kildare one.

FFS. That's an unbelievable price (assuming the car was in good order). Could easily have been bought by a boy racer as opposed to an enthusiast.

Curse the fact that Carzone has turned into the pile of ****e that it is and not everyone uses it anymore.

I didn't think there was a choice of greabox on the GTA?

P.S. if you're interested in a GTA, did you see this thread?

https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/repub...-for-sale.html

Btw, you'll do well to find many Irish cars with a Q2 fitted-even Gerry Campbell hadn't fitted one until he did my GT last year!

Cowboys Ted, they're a bunch of cowboys!

The Octane link is down, but I think this is the one you mean (see attached).
Yeah looks mint alright. But not a sele like I'm after, & wrong colour for me
41,000 miles in the difference! Does that equate to €6450 in the price, I suppose it might, if you end up spending that on getting the cheaper one right.
But I'd take a gamble on the cheaper one even if its red.

How much did Gerry charge for fitting the Q2? Did he source it for you?

Try driving.ie. Same database, better more functional site.

It's more to do with the fact that fewer private sellers use Carzone after they changed their pricing, i.e. all you get is overpriced stock in dealers!

Really lads? Price makes sense now. Still, if you had to spend €2-€3k to put it right, you'd still have a hell of a car for the money, right?

What was wrong with the GTA in the initial post? Says the engine and suspension were ok (obviously could be "misleading" though)

Yup, he sourced it for me-the parts cost was €470 ex VAT. As to the labour cost, I can't really say as I was getting other work done at the time and who knows, it may cost more or less to do it on a JTD v a GTA.

If you are getting a Q2 fitted, you would do well to consider a new clutch if you have a high mileage car (relatively speaking, it is doesn't add huge amount to fit the clutch if you are getting the Q2 fitted the Q2 as well)

The Q2 is a limited slip differential.

If you go into the Tech Experience section on alfaromeo.ie there is an explanation there, or do a search in the GTA Tech Lounge there is loads of info there also.

Sporto you will struggle to find your ideal GTA....

There were only a very small number of Selespeed GTA's made, the vast majority were done in Alfa Red....

I asked DVLA in Swansea how many Selespeed GTA's were registered in the UK, 10. 6 red, 2 blue, 1 silver and 1 black

Saw that but funds at the time dictated a resounding NO to that unfortunately.
