imho fastest would be to go to a garage and ask them to reset it

AFAIK if it's a amber light on the dashboard they won't say anything, but if it's a red light on the dashboard they'll probably fail you.

I'd say get it reset, or if not, just disconnect the airbag under your seat if you can.

You might as well be on time for the test and let it fail on just that one thing, it wont be much to get it fixed and the re-inspection will just be a visual one so it will be free.

Best of luck with the rest of the test

Sorry to drag up an old thread but the red airbag light came on in my 147 yesterday and was on again today... Suggestions on what to do? Is it just a case of bringing it to a garage? I'm off work tomorrow so would like to get it sorted if possible.

yes bring it down, I dont think they will charge just for plugging in their diagnostic kit to check it out, only takes a few minutes.

Usually it's the connection under the seat.

its an Alfa so in fairness could be anything. Electrics where never their strong suit.
My solution to unwanted lights showing up on my console is to remove the LED

actually you could try one thing beforehand, cant guarantee it actually works but its worth a try. Reset the ECU, remove both battery connections for about 3 minutes, then reconnect them. If that doesnt change anything then go to the garage

Disconnecting the led can result in failing your NCT, so I wouldn't do that. Also, a working airbag can save your life, so ask yourself if it's worth it not getting fixed.

got it sorted... there was some issue with the voltage going to the airbag ecu... and the wires under the seat were a bit tangled.

Its beutifully cleaned (by myself I may add!) and sitting pretty on my drive for the Moment. Dave is coming to look at it in the next 2 weeks so it will be sorted then . I really miss hearing it burble . I bought the gear to get connect My Ipod to it from Marco at [email protected] . Great guy , gave me every bit of info to get it wired up so may try to do that while she's in her V1 state. Pity really it is sick but it will be sorted . Will let you know what it is when dave finds the problem . Fingers crossed its something small.!
