156 Facelift

Hi All,

Must say I do like the look of the 156 facelift that came out in 2003 - 2005 (?). I think the lines and the styling are spot on - subtle straight lines at the back and in particular the front grill - much prefer it integrated into the nose of the car.
Also the accessories:
Sport pack side skirting
17" alloys
Leather interior
White Dials

Alfa Romeo 156 1.6 Ti 4 DR - €10,950 - Used Cars on Carzone.ie - New & Used Cars in Ireland

So it came with a 1.6 Ti (above), a 1.8 and 2.0 JTS (my preferred 170bhp).
After having a nose on the websites, I can only find the 1.6 with the sport pack with the nice accessories (mentioned above).
Were these featured on the 1.8 or 2.0 JTS?

What about the semi auto gearbox (selespeed is it?) To be avoided?

I see a lovely red version of the above most mornings but it is debadged

Garage
Dermo's 156 is the JTS with all the toys

Also the 2.0 JTS has 165 BHP not 170 ( in the GT anyway, I presume it's the same as the 156 engine )

As for a selespeed, I wouldn't have one. I know some people have no issues with theirs but there are so many horror stories I don't think it's worth the risk

Cheers Dave.

...actually...think it is 163bhp... (per carfolio anyway)

Yeah Dermo's is a nice motor (ticks all the boxes). But didn't he get it from the UK?
Just wondering if many (with that spec) were sold here?

I would be a nice daily driver.
Only window shopping at the mo and will be for a little while longer

I think it's a great looking car-prefer it to the 'classic' 156 myself. Rare enough over here. Unless you're committed to petrol, have a look at the 1.9 and 2.4 JTDs (in the UK).

Nice spec on the one above and very low mileage too.

I don't think I'm quite ready for a Diesel.

Quick they are, but I prefer a car that does not hide the sense of speed, whether that be by its vocals, its size of is ride.
The low band power range in diesels tends to swoop you too silently to national speed limits. It takes a little from the enjoyment of acceleration (whether it be aggressive or progressive).

Great mpg though.

I think all have white dials, you can pick up leather seats (I got mine from a 05 Ti model) and skirts easily enough. More important to get a sound running engine and a suspension that hasnt been beaten up.

Not all have white dials we have the better looking black ones imo. Larry I'll get ya a spin in the 156 some day and see what you think of it. It's mint and babied too. Hasn't been driven in over a month due to my Dad getting a van so if you want a nice standard 156 Ti this is the one to get. It's mint underneath too if it wasn't we wouldn't have bought it as it only has 19k miles on the clock from england the person who owned it before us was a pensioner and never really drove it.

Cheers Damien.

Getting one from an Alfaowner would of course be ideal. Like you said, it has been babied, and the fact the owner went to the UK to get one highlights their genuine interest in the car. I do like Dermo's car.

Unfortunately there is no way I can afford one until at least May next year and that is only if I can get a couple of hundred quid for the 323f
I'm even taking the GTV off the road until then
Tis dark times.
