Alfa gone but not forgotten

so lads, the end of my 10yr affair with Alfas ended last week....but it really didn't sink home until this morning when I picked up the replacement.

Dermo will hate me for this but its another diseasel as he likes to call them...

Its a Subaru Legacy Tourer in Diamond Grey. Only driven it a few miles so far but they are a lovely car. Never thought I'd buy Japanese but Subaru has always been one marque that I always liked. Power & torque on this engine is almost identical to the GT...only time will tell when I have it run in what the differences are between them.

I'll keep popping in every now & again to see whats going on and if I get a chance to get to a meet, I'll do my best to catch up with you lads and get jealous over your cars...

Tom

Cool car that shame it wasn't a petrol. Petrol would have nicer power wise. But I agree Subaru are a "cool" Japanse car manufacturer.

I like subaru's too to be honest. I'm all into good cars and not just Alfa's. Just as long as good cars arent for only for the mummy runs.

considered a used petrol one but I had a 2.0 Forester NA all week and it was extremely thirsty and lacking the power the diesel engine has. Very few petrol turbo estates out there and nearly all auto's

I had the demo diesel out a few weeks ago and its not your average diesel...revs much like a petrol and is not like a tractor either..

Ya I got a spin in one of the diesels the last time I was in the sweep. Ya I'd never have an NA scoob. They are crap lol. Turbos would have to be had.

I owned an Outback(Petrol) approx 6 years ago, and i have to say that it was one of the best driving cars i have ever had, although i did loose it it once in a slippery roundabout

a few pics of the legacy folks...

Have to say its a superb car...it has the handling of the Alfa, maybe not the styling but the boxer diesel engine is an absolute beaut to drive. Very smooth...

keeping my eyes peeled though for a nice GTV in the next 12 months...see any, let me know

I had a good look at it this morning at the Phoenix Park at the Octane.ie stand
Its this one I think you're talking about Gav
Need to look into a few things before considering another motor in the house. Space for one and the insurance. Its certainly a lovely motor...
Not a fan of the rear spolier though...

I think I have actually seen that one in the metal as well, I think I mentioned it in the sightings thread.
for the modifications it has it doesnt look to bad. I am sure Damo will like the fact that it is all black! You should have a look at the ones in the UK though, way cheaper, and we have very slim pickings here at the moment, and the ones that are for sale have been so for quite a while.

..that spoiler actually came with those cars though, it was part of an "aero kit" that actually increased the top speed. i'd say that one sounds pretty nice as well..

good luck with the leggy.. i had one for 2 years and absolutly loved it. drank like a builder though..!

That's interesting! How did it increase top speed?

That isn't the aero kit spoiler, it's an aftermarket one. The aero one was a good bit lower and bolted closer to the back.

seem to be a few V6 ones out there at the moment. My problem is where to put it when I'm not using it. My drive just takes 2 cars and I wouldn't be keeping it on the road. If I put the Alfa in the drive then I'd have to park on the road and with the amount of kids on our street, it would be wrecked in a month.
