How long does it take to drive to Italy

Hi lads,

I would really love at some point in the near future to drive down to Northern Italy and visit a few sights, Stelvio Pass, and Museums etc.
How long does it take to get their? I'm presuming it will be Rosslare Ferry to France and go from their or is it better going to Holyhead and through the Chunnel at Dover?
Any advice from those who have done it from Ireland would be helpful.

Regards

I have done Bologna to the chunnel in 24 hours straight but that was going hard enough in a 33 year old Fiat...

I won't go directly to France ever again. 18 hours on the ferry in the smell of sick and poo. I used to go to Holyhead, then the Channel Tunnel (20 minutes!), stay in Calais overnight, and leave early the next day. It took me ~10 hours to get to the far side of Austria, but it was on the motorway (nothing to see). If you drive to Italy, have a look at this route:
the german alpine road

good luck!

Yeah avoid the long ferry as you are in a real car and you should enjoy the lovely open roads....

One more thing, is it possible to go to one of the tracks over there and hire a track car for a few laps. 360 or Boxster, 156 GTA something like that would be nice

Drive to Italy...depends on you eagerness to get there.

Ferry through France:
18hr Ferry (drink )
To Grenoble in about 10 hours easy enough. If you thinking of Stelvio, then Geneve is a better place to rest the head for the night, right on Swiss border
Then about 6 hours to Monaco via the Col de Turini.
So motorway to Italy from Ferry would take you at least 12 hours, plus you got petrol, pee and food stops to think about.

Through the UK... 5 hours from Fishguard to Dover. Then France as above. No Ferry/beer restover though.

You can rent Alfa 75's at 'The Ring'. Afraid that is all I know.
