Just got a GT - advice please

Hey guys. I recently got a GT and I found this place by accident. I have to say it seems to be a great resource for Alfa owners. I thought I'd ask in the Ireland section since maybe someone here has had the same questions. Anyway what mods would you recommend doing? I would definitely like to do something with the stereo - any recommendations there? I keep seeing these chips on ebay also that supposedly ad 30BHP instantly. What's the deal with these?

Any advice is much appreciated

Re: Just got a GT - advice please

Stereo wise, loads can go into it. I just fitted Kick KS165.2 speakers they are a driect fit into the 156 door's which are basically the same as the GT's. Them and a new head unit will do wonders.

I can get Kicker, Alpine, Pioneer and Clarion. At a good price.

Is it a petrol or diesel GT you have?

Petrol 1.8

Not to sound silly but how much you willing to spend then I'll get you the best gear I can. It helps me to know how much you want to spend.

I wouldn't personally bother with a remap on it. Not worth the hassle unless you want to do cams etc.

Re: Just got a GT - advice please

I haven't really put a figure on it to be honest. I was hoping to find out some realistic prices and then get the money together. With everything the way it is I can't justify anything over €500 at the moment.

Oh and here's a link to one of those things on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...spagenameZWD1V

There's loads around but I'm not very familiar with this stuff so what are they and are they any use?

Thanks for your help Ciaran by the way.

Re: Just got a GT - advice please

Hiya Ciaran, no bother on the help front I'm here to help. Now you must get yourself to a meet

Well 500 euro will get you plenty A nice headunit, speakers and a little amp to power them to get the most out of them

Steer clear of that ebay chip. It is useless. All it does it confused the maf into thinking it is getting other readings than it really is becuase it is a variable resistor. I would personally wait till you have more mods done to justify the remap. But it is up to yourself really.

Re: Just got a GT - advice please

You will want a stereo setup that will allow you to retain your steering wheel controls-most decent stereos out there will I guess, but make sure first.

Having spent plenty of time reading up on the subject, I will be getting a remap vs a chip. Having said that, I see you have a 1.8 petrol and so I'm not sure if that is suitable for a remap.
