I did it! I have taken THE plunge

I am now an Alfa owner for the first time. I threw all my sensibility out of my Golf's window, sold the car, and bought a Rosso Red '96 GTV with tan leather. I feel so happy!

Hope she treats you well GTVW (or whatever you're called by the time you read this ). Red with tan leather is a very nice combo. You also need to modify (add) your avatar now too

Re: I did it! I have taken THE plunge

Thanks all, she does look pretty clean in the pic but she was actually pretty dirty. Also you cant tell for the small pic but the paint work is fairly bad if I am honest. There are a lot of stone chips as would be expected but what the mechanic picked up on was that the lower half of the body had been given a dodgy spray job, on close inspection the top half is the faded red colour and the bottom is as it should be, apart from the fact that the lacquer is coming off in places. Also the plastic bumpers have gone a bit dare I say it...pink! So technically she is actually three colours right now! Just gave her a good clean and a polish and she looking a lot better though

Re: I did it! I have taken THE plunge

The colour combe is really what wont it for me, there were/are newer ones with less mileage but to be honest they just somehow didn't really do it for me like this one did. They really aren't a car you can buy with your head are they?

Re: I did it! I have taken THE plunge

Certainly not, that is a stupid way to buy an Alfa. You buy the one that screams to you the most I did it with my one and it is a great car

Best of luck with the car.

Re: I did it! I have taken THE plunge

Lovely car. Delighted to see you got sorted
Was actually wondering the other night if you ever got one as I replied to your wanted post.
Still havent moved mine on and herself reckons she will keep it and drive it at this stage

Lots of stuff being done on 166 right now and after that, I need to sort rear exhaust on GTV

As a matter of interest, what kind of money did you get it for?

Re: I did it! I have taken THE plunge

The guy had it listed at 4,700 which was always a bit optimistic and I ended up getting it for 2,800 which is about right I think, especially given that it has a very complete service history (the next one will be its 11th if you include its pre-delivery service)

Re: I did it! I have taken THE plunge

Great looking car mate, Love that colour combo!

One thing I'd do is get hold of a set of Phase 2 GTV wheels, the 16" ones? I had a set on my GTV and it made the car look superb!
