Irish "I got the Alfa Wave" thread

I'm amazed honestly!!

absolutely flabbergasted

After over a year of driving my 147 and say 80% of the time, giving the Alfa wave (i always check out other Alfas as i drive if i can), but this time was different

I was coming out of a t-junction in Portmarnock, and as i waited to turn right, there was a black facelift 147 with mint rims on it (not anything i've seen before) and i was looking at his sweet 147..
Next thing, i look up to see he's doing the same, looking at my car
As he turned into the same road as me, we both nodded and waved

Hopefully it's the start of a trend, so I figured we might need this thread if it was

the irish country roads go round and round, round and round, round and round

........ AND I LOVE IT!

Re: Irish "I got the Alfa Wave" thread

I am still yet to get the elusive Alfa wave, I must of passed by about 20 156's today and nothing!
Have many people actually got the Alfa wave in their time?

I got one once wasn't even aware of it haha until the fella drove by. I think most people who buy Alfa's over here don't really look at the other ones.

For the models you see everyday like 156's or 159's I could understand but for 146's or 145's, rare stuff, you might expect to get one from them a bit more.

I dunno, never had any one driving a 146 wave at me, and I don't bother either no point really.

Re: Irish "I got the Alfa Wave" thread

I would of thought that through mutual respect of 1) the chances of actually seeing each other and 2) that both cars are actually running, that a respectful nod would be exchanged at least!!

Re: Irish "I got the Alfa Wave" thread

only just joined the site, and never realised there was "an alfa wave"..
can only assume Limerick folks don't do it (haven't seen any posts from Limerick owners so far).

Personally, always make time to check out a good well presented Alfa, particularly 146s as am curious to how ppl are looking after 'em. Funny thing is there was another 146 1.4TS who's reg is only 5 less than mine Used to pass it every day going to work out in Shannon, but haven't seen it in a few months now

Anyway,
Reguarly down to Waterford, and occasionally down to Cork so will keep a look out -> I'll be the 00-L plate Navy 146

Re: Irish "I got the Alfa Wave" thread

I've only ever got one, from a fellow 155er, after I finally stopped staring at her sportpack alloys

I'd only ever bother giving a nod or a thumbs up to something that isn't 'current' otherwise as Damien says, you're seen as weird and there's just no point.

Re: Irish "I got the Alfa Wave" thread

I've only gotten one in my 156, from another 156! It was in Listowel at the beginning of a long road trip to Donegal. My Bella made short work of the trip though

I used to get the odd wave in my 164, I would always wave back, it was before I had found this site, so I just thought people had gone a little loopy! They couldn't have mistaken me for someone else though as I only ever saw two more 164s in Kerry and both of those were black. Mine was red/purple/wine colour.

Re: Irish "I got the Alfa Wave" thread

Almost every owner of 147 is a lady here in Dublin
so unfortunately I can't wave because when my wife will see it,
it will be quiz named: ''100 questions to....''
But ofcourse when I see every alfa it makes my attention and few times I got the alfa wave
