AO Ireland - Kinsale To Inchydoney/Rosscarbery The Wild Atlantic Way: 23rd July
Calendar: Event Calendar

*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
Time for the next meet of the year. The plan is to meet up between 12:30 & 1pm for a chat in Kinsale & maybe a visit to the chipper before departing sometime after 1pm. Dinos famous chipper is in the town centre just beside the pier & the carpark.

Before we leave Kinsale there's the option to drive up to Charles Fort which overlooks the bay, then back to Kinsale & on to the Old Head Of Kinsale where there's the Lusitania Memorial & the Old Head Of Kinsale Signal Tower. Then it's on to Garrylucas & Garretstown beaches & from there to Timoleague (Friary), Ring village, Clonakilty & then to either Inchydoney Island or Rosscarbery. We'll be keeping to the Wild Atlantic Way route along the coast road as much as possible.

If anyone else has any suggestions do speak up, here or on the day.

Here's a Google Map https://drive.google.com/open?id=1R0...p6LGGIbmdk&usp of the suggested route, although it may vary slightly.

As always all are welcome so come along & don't forget to submit your RSVPs.

So that's Sunday 23rd July at 12:30pm in Kinsale in the car park on the R600 (Pier Road) between Dinos Chipper & the park, before Acton's Hotel (not the same carpark as last year, it's across the road & only 100 or 200m further out the road, it should have more space that the other one) .
Sat nav co-ordinates N 51.70424, W 8.52139

And if the those car parks are full there's there's also on street parking by the water on Pier Road & Lower Road.
If anyone wants my phone number for Sunday, send me a PM with your number & I'll text you back.

I really enjoyed today & yet again the sunshine cooperated, the only downside of that was the traffic Anyway thanks to all who made the trip to Kinsale today, hope you all had a great day & make it home safely

Dublin here...bit of traffic on the M8, but fluid. Made it home in about 3 hrs flat. Really nice day out, wouldn't ever have dreamed about being thankful to a lycra-clad middle aged man going around on a toy, but strange things do happen !

I think this story deserves further elaboration.

Well, there was plenty of "Sunday drivers" traffic yesterday - you know, the types going around "ooohing" and "aaaahing" at anything around (loads of out-of-depth tourists in rentals as well); We barely managed to do any proper driving and at some point, on the way to Timoleague we were stuck behind some weirdo driving his/her non-descript, white goods Toyota/Honda/Hyundai/whatever at like, 40km/h all around.

Then a cyclist of the MAMIL variety appeared on the road - the above slow coach, somehow, overtook him (barely going faster than the MAMIL) and we were stuck looking at his lycra clad arse, as he was doing proper cyclist stuff - the things that make them oh so lovely on the road - being in the middle of the road with a continuous line and preventing everyone from overtaking.

But...there's a silver lining; This allowed the slow traffic ahead to gain a lot of ground, so once we could dispatch the lycra guy on a toy, we managed the one and only proper gunning of the day

Perhaps it's for the best I couldn't make it yesterday - that would have driven me crazy!
