Help GTV needing a little work!

Lo all,
I've a GTV 97 & i love it ,Well ye have to love it to put up with the constant problems!I've just found this site & i'm hoping someone can help with some noob questions.A few things have gone arse ways with the GTV:

1st: The exhaust arm has snapped & it was lost on the road somewhere.I need to now get a new back box.Alfa want €625.00 to fit a new one.I'm not paying that!Is ordering from the UK better or can i get it from someone here in Ireland?

2nd:The drivers window just doesn't work. The switch sounds like it's clicking but nothing is happening. Is the motor gone & if so as above would it be best to order from the UK?

3rd:Very simple this one .I actually fell a bit dumbing asking ! The batter is flat & might need replacing.Anyway how do i jump start it?After 10mins looking under the bonnet & not finding the battery.I checked the manual which pointed me to the boot lol!But i can't get the jump leads in to attach them to the battery. The manual is crap & so are my mates, they didn't have a clue.

Thanks for any help!

Jumpstarting GTV's I hear is not recommended what with all the electronics.
Best bet is to take the battery out. Awkward but not difficult.

My battery died after I left the headlights on (Doh! ) and a wee battery booster pack (Aldi) did the job. It is possible to attach the cables to the battery but they need to have a wide opening "mouth" (for lack of a better word).

Sorry to hear about the window.

Back box for €600. Ireland Stealers.

I can recommed you ring TI auto's in Dublin and see what they can offer. Definitely check out the UK sites. I find (personal choice only) Alfaworkshop.co.uk good. Got spark plugs and Brakes form them at 66% of the Irish cost.

welcome to Alfa ownership Robbie!

where abouts in Westmeath are you located? I'm in Mullingar myself, normally spotted in either my navy 156 or red Fiat Coupe

I get all my work done in JOMO Engineering in Killucan, John the owner there really knows his stuff and is very reasonable, his number is 0449376700, tell him Liam sent you!!
