A personal best

Well, I have got all the way to today - let's see...it's the 25th I think - without having the tedious dirge that is "Stop The Cavalry" foisted upon my reluctant eardrums. A first.

On the other hand, I've heard "Let it Snow" 47 times.

Is it my imagination, or has there been a move away from crap 70s-90s Christmas pop songs in shops and pubs in favour of crap 50s crooner-type Christmas songs?

Only 365 shopping days to Christmas.

Is that the one that goes 'Jigedy Jig, Ee-Aww, Ee-aww, It's Dominic the Donkey!', if so then I'm really sorry.

The good thing about itunes/ipod is that you pick up little bits here and there over the years, label them under the 'Christmas' category and on the big day, simply select that category and leave it playing on shuffle. You suddenly find you have a nice eclectic mix of Michael Bublé, Slade, Gregorian Chant and Bing Crosby to amaze and amuse your friends/family with!

I quite like Stop the Cavalry tbh - but I must confess I haven't heard that many Christmas sngs this year - indeed, I don't think I've heard Wham's Last Christmas at all this year!

I would only dispute one word of the above:-

"nice".

Paul.

Re: A personal best

Paul, I meant 'nice' in the sense of nicely eclectic, not my taste in music, which is undoubtedly tragic...

Re: A personal best

Burning books and music isn't always the work of authoritarian dictatorships. Sometimes it's just worth doing for its own sake.
