Re: Race Car Stolen

Why would you nick it?

It's such a speciality that you could never possibly use it, or even sell it on for use.

Sell for parts? But even then it'd be easily traced?

I'm flummoxed

It will be stripped down into 100's of parts and sold on.

That's why things like this are never recovered.

But you're talking about a tiny percentage of people who are going to be in the market for parts for a machine such as this. If word is put about (as I'm sure it has) then (in my experience of club racing communities) the cummunity will be on the lookout for anyone selling parts who they might not have dealt with previously, or is new to the scene or so on.

Sounds risky to me

There will be lots of universal parts.

Brakes
Wheels
Yam R1 Engine
Management
Racing electronics (timing)

All sorts of parts realy that could be sold with out being traced.

Obviously the chassis and body wont be able to be sold.

Or just stolen to go on a joyride... Which means it'd end up crashed or trashed in no time...

Re: Race Car Stolen

Just read about this in my local rag. The guy lives in my road! Often seen the car in his garage, but just before it was stolen (I guess) he put the car in a covered trailer which was hooked up to his transit. I remember thinking at the time that it didn't look very secure!
I wonder if it was opportunists, who just happened to see the trailer, or whether it was stolen to order. Either way, they're scumbags
