Re: Labour are screwed
The Labour Party were screwed from the very moment that they installed Blair as leader.
He won them votes from middle England, traditional Tory voters who we're sick of the bedroom antics of their own party filling the headlines, and wanted a new approach.
Who better than a 'New' Labour, a Labour that was willing to embrace the centre right of the country, albeit at the cost of it's socialist roots.
Now these core socialist voters were happy to continue voting for LAbour, as they had done for generations. They were glad to have a party which finally looked like seizing power after years under the cruel hand of Thatcher and the imbecilic reign of Major.
Little did they know they were just going to get another right wing Tory party in control of the country, only this time they were wearing red rosettes instead of blue.
As the years have passed, and those core socialist voters quickly realised that New Labour are as far from their socialist heritage as could possibly be, they've stopped voting altogether, or gone to independant parties. And the middle England tories have realised that Camerons conservatives have actually fought back as a result of the socialist departure of New Labour, so they're no jumping back to their old ship.
New Labour are left with nothing, no floating voters, and they've alienated all their core support too.
All because they were willing to go against their traditional agenda in order to seize a few years in the sun.
As a proud socialist I'd rather support a 'real' Labour party who provide strong opposition, than a pretend Labour party who just follow the same Thatcherite path that's failed us for the last 3decades.
But the 'real' Labour party is a thing of the past
