Mod Superiority: Questionable?

Right,

Now then, I am going to lay all cards out on the table.

I am not one of these odd characters that comes along as a newbie and starts spouting the ramblings of someone with a stick up their ass, or a looney that jumps aboard the forum and starts discussing mad delusions of grandeur.

I enjoy this forum just as much as everyone else, but over the last few days have had 'Mods' have a go at me for what I consider no apparent reason.

Now then, in making a Thread regarding the issue, am I being ironic to my above testament and becoming one of the mad souls I speak of? Who knows. But, this is something I had to get off my chest.

I could have taken to heart what was merely mods having a laugh, in which case I do apologize. However, it's better to talk openly about 'ones' feelings that just let them **** you off.

Both instances where I have been the subject of 'Mod superiority' (As I shall call it!) took place in the same thread. A thread started by myself which shall be explained in the following paragraph.

In this instance there was a chap called Mazdaman1969 who was spouting Chav-ish ramblings about pretty much the same thing I'm mentioning here (Only he did it in a mental way in which he kept saying 'Mazdaman rules!' every now and then).

Now then, I was posting in this thread along with many others to try and source what this guys problem was, when it was abruptly shut down and closed off by a Mod. Fair enough I suppose, although it would have been handy to at least leave it open I'm not going to get into that as what is done is done. Plus, the guy was a tool so total fair play to any mods.

I then posted a tongue in cheek thread called 'Was Mazda Man a Dream?', which was meant as a quick joke to be answered in jest by anyone involved and then shut down.

Me and Kurzon were having a little bit of banter when I was met with Bigfoot's "Darren, cut it out please. Thanks". Now I took this as a dig at me for bantering with Kurzon and inquired what the post meant.

I was then greeted with "Please, let's move on and avoid keep talking about members that aim to disrupt the peaceful environment on AO.
Message clear enough?" once again by Bigfoot.

Hmm, okay, message read loud and clear.

Then, the conversation takes a different direction with people joking about what position they came in as 'Poster of the Month' and all that lot, to which I asked basically what number I came, and was then greeted by Ant with "Enough already Darren! Thread closed."

Ah, okay then, long serving members of the AO community can have a banter session but the second I post in a thread that I created, relating to something entirely different from the threads original point, I get called up on it and the thread closed?

Maybe this wouldn't aggravate me so much if not for the fact that my SECOND post within that 2 page thread I started was 'Oh right, close this down then'.

But no, instead of simply having a Mod say 'Yeah we had better because it aint good for morale' or whatever, I get had a go at.

Full Thread Here: https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/way-o...n-a-dream.html

Right, maybe I am taking this too personally, and shouldn't be getting so worked up.

But this one has really ****ed me off. (Pardon the language)

I have brought this to whoever cares attention as civil and as well thought out as I could, and see no reason for it to suddenly get shut down. But then again, that does appear to happen alot lately.

I am not doing this to have a go at Mods as such, as I have on many occasion stood up against people creating such threads as this and backed the Mods up.

I am merely asking for an explanation as to why I have been spoken to like a ****** who is hell bent on being a trouble maker.

I'm just trying to have a laugh like everyone else.

Thanks anyway,
Darren

Darren...it doesn't matter. I've been on AO for six years now. the mod intervention is minor. let it pass mate. i know why you're miffed, but just move on to the next bit of fun on AO. i honestly wouldn't let it trouble you.

Re: Mod Superiority: Questionable?

Difficult one Darren. As the others have said, take it lightly?: Ray81 prompted me to have a look in my profile, out of curiosity, and in spite of possibly having been an upper-and downer at times, suppose I have touched, but not tripped the wire so far Mods can be different personalities, like us all, rightside/wrongside of the bed on occasions. My exuberance carries me away quite often, but just stick with it, no hard feelings mate.:

Take it with a pinch of salt my friend. We all have bad days, right? Maybe it was just one of those days for those involved. I've seen all the threads spoke of, and sympathise - but please just let sleeping dogs lie.

It'll be back to normal here again soon

Re: Mod Superiority: Questionable?

Darren, the best person to answer your question is Ant. Maybe he mis-understood what you were saying/doing (???).

I can understand that you feel a bit put upon and hurt. I'm sure on the various threads you were just being light-hearted but maybe it would have been better to PM/Page him about it first?

What they all said!!

Just an unavoidable hazard when posting on forums that your intentions/their intentions can sometimes never be fully appreciated.

Sleep on it mate.
The WOT lounge wouldn't be the same without you posting borrocks now and again

Darren, I would like to remind everyone that this job is a tough one.

We do our best and try not to let people ruin the AO experience for others.

Ranting about us will not help the site in any way. In fact this will cause more trouble in an already tumultuous time.

Please help rather than hinder us and enjoy the site.

Re: Mod Superiority: Questionable?

Good advice!

Can I shout 'Darren156 rules!' though, or is that taking it too far?

Nah, I see where you are all coming from, cheers.

Yes, you can rule mate.: Start afresh, re-group, ever onward! Yes but where? As someone said to me recently:

Re: Mod Superiority: Questionable?

You're a great guy Darren and your posts don't have connotations of the "ramblings of someone with a stick up their ass", well that of which I have read anyway.

See, this is where it gets slightly annoying.

I am not trying to ruin the AO expierience for anyone.

I am not so much as ranting, but trying to find out what I'm being taken for a Mugsy Balone.

And before now I have never seen any of my posts as hindering anyone. If this is a Thread is in anyway taken as hindering the site as a whole, then I've been seriously taken out of context.

I am merely trying to find out why I'm being reprimanded for something that isn't even that serious.

If that's just way too much for people to get their heads round then maybe I should just quit whilst I'm ahead.

Darren: apologies if I made you feel I was targeting you. That was absolutely not my intent to target any specific AO member.
