Office Chair.

I'm reasonably happy to recommend and Alfa however as soon as there is the slightest of problems it's because they bought Italian.

Buy German and when it breaks it was because some mechanic did something wrong or the moon was full and you woke to a black cat sat on the mudflap.

According to the Telegraph, filling slots in the ten most unreliable family cars category is a straight fight between VAG and Peugeot.

Haven't we all had those conversations?

You earnestly question their needs and requirements for space, comfort, economy, performance, etc and consider carefully. Then at each suggestion that meets said needs they come back with "nah don't like/want something bigger/smaller/faster/slower/cheaper/basic or luxurious" than everything they said they needed.

All my cars have been reliable as in never broke down or failed to start (Hyundai, ford, Alfa, fiat, Mitsubishi & VW)
Some have been more expensive to maintain and Alfa Romeo tops that list by a mile but I'm an optimist so the pounds spent on the Alfas gave me better value you for money because I enjoyed them more than the others.
Rule 101 never ask work colleagues/friends/family for advice. Just find the type of car you want then see which make and model appeals to you most. Use the interweb, every car has its own forum and see what issues these cars have.
20 minute job and you'll be ready to purchase the car of your choice. That's the advice I give, I don't want to be blamed for them buying a dog of a car

I just spent all morning watching a VH1 special on Gwen Stefani. I don't know what a Hollaback girl is. All I know is that I want her dead.

I get some jibes about Alfas, and play along with them. "They rust to bits"....my reply..Yes, terrible, I carry a brush and dustpan in the boot to sweep up forecourts as I leave them.
"Always breaking down"...My reply..Yes, terrible, I have to allow about an hour to get to work for a 10 min journey.
My question last week to a colleague..Why have you got Joes car, Where is your Polo?(12 plate freshly bought on finance from Barnards in Stowmarket)...Her reply...It wouldn't start.
Me? Aaaaaghahahahahahahahaha.

I don't even bother to engage in car conversations anymore. It's never a level playing field. They ask your advice when they have already decided that the Thunderclap XII is the car for them. If they want a Golf? Fine, go buy a Golf. Want a MINI? Fine, go buy a MINI.

Also, I'm quite a bit behind on new cars these days anyway. I'd probably recommend something oblivious to the fact that it went out of production in 2002

When you look at new cars these days, it's all about "connectivity" for the iPhone generations.

Audi make new models with this as priority over ride / handling now, as the typical punter is more obsessed about being connected...

It's like the Matrix movie is now becoming reality...

And cars are just like using an appliance for a lot of people and generally have no idea, so I understand fully what the OP means here.

VAG products are very good, I own two alongside a V6 Alfa but the feeling is so very different with the Alfa - you feel connected with the drive - it's proper Old School with a sense of bravado.

If you're a car man or woman, you need to have an Alfa at some point. They provide something beyond mere transportation.

BTW.. Audi's do require looking after like anything else and can go wrong on the odd occasion, but my 150k miler TT is as tight as Virgin's and provides most of what I need day to day, but....

My GTV V6 + Ragazzon Quad, still gives me the biggest automotive Hard On!!!
