Overpriced Alfa of the Week

So.

I feel like I'm up for a good flaming.

The search is sort of on for us to (possibly :wall: ) find a Spider/Brera. Not sure if the 3.2 or the 2.2 is the correct version at the moment but that's not my choice (other half).

In the meantime, the faff has produced an idea for a game I can play while we carry out our infinte search for the right Spider/Brera at the right price.

I shall produce what I think are some spectacularly overpriced cars (Alfas ) when I come across them.

Let my current-owner flaming begin. I'm ready. :evil1:

Today: Alfa Romeo Spider 3.2 V6 JTS Q4 2dr

It's a lot of car for the money.

Errr....money for the car.

Better than a brand new i30 Hyundai i30 1.4 Style | Full UK Specification and Data

Which is the nearest in value I can find.

A car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

If they are confident at selling at that price and then they do then surely thats what the car is worth?

I've noticed a lot of the newer Alfas... 159, Brera, Spider selling well above the Parkers/Glasses guide prices.

Newer alfa's seem to be holding their value remarkably well compared to what they used to.

In 2005 I bought a 7 year old 146Ti in very good condition for £600, and it wasn't the only one for sale for that sort of money.

I bet I couldn't get a 7 year old Alfa for that now in good condition....

It does look a lot for a 5 year old even with low miles. However, there aren't that many around, the V6 has its own appeal to a small market. I can't recall the original list price but I'd suggest it has retained around 50% in 5 years which is excellent.

Perhaps the trade has finally twigged that they're not so bad, and Alfas are nearly always well cared for.

An interesting comparison, but surely the Hyundai Style must breach trade description legislation? It has all the style and grace of a club foot.

Ultimately, if you like the Alfa and it makes you smile then it has justified the asking price, regardless of how high or low it is.

This week.

Alfa Romeo Brera 2.2 JTS Italia Independent 3dr

When I could have a 1.8TBi for the same price, or less.

Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6 24v Lusso 2dr

The novelty of spraying a car white does not increase its value by the amount you spend.
The fact they have been trying to sell it for at least 8 months is testament.

And yes, I'm going to say it... by a mile...

Alfa Romeo 4C 1.8 TBi TCT 2dr

Bugger, that's three.

That GTV just doesn't look right, red interior with black seats is an odd combination also the white paint job is kind of off too it doesn't have that spark a white Alfa should have

An Overpriced Special this week.

This 156 started at somewhere near £7000 when I first saw it, pushed up to £8000 last year and hasn't moved in at least three that I know of.

Earlier this year it was offered at £10,000. It has now moved forward to dwarf any used 156 GTA price I have seen in 6 years.

Presenting once again, one of the most famous 156 GTAs for infinite sale...

Alfa Romeo 156 3.2 V6 24V GTA 4DR

EDIT: is this technically the first case of a car being held hostage?
