You have to ask why.

I see adverts for washing machines with touch screens and digital displays and I ask myself WTF for?

It's pointless stupid additional complexity for the sake of it.

Why ?
It's cheaper having no moving parts and no knobs to mould/design.

I replaced one before summer as it failed on.
Yes a ring just switched on full power all by itself.
Luckily I was home.

You have to hold your finger on the control to go up or down,
near a bubbling pan.

If something boils over there's a pool scalding water all over the controls.

If you brush against the controls with a damp cloth they change.

Schite.

I used to have a washing machine with knobs on (I know, I know). You turned the knob to "on" and it started up.

Now you push a button and lights start flashing while it thinks about it and then reluctantly starts after 30 seconds.

WHY? - this is not progress.

The dishwasher is even worse - when it has finished it bleeps which would be ok if it did it once. But oh no - every half hour it will bleep 5 times until you turn it off - Why? again - do the designers think our lives are so dull that the prospect of emptying a dishwasher needs continual announcement?

I am not so thick that I would assume that, despite the silence, after a couple of hours maybe, just maybe it would start up . Oh no what should I do? - if only there was an INCESSANT BLEEPER going off to indicate the bleeding obvious.

Took me a while but did find how to disable
the nagging washing machine bleeping by
downloading the French manual.

The English manual had a whole different
disable sequence. WHY!?

I assume the French sequence was shorter, due to their habit of giving up easily.
