Doctors Surgeries

I don't know what everyone else's is like but I really do hate my local doctor's surgery with a passion!!!

I've had a back problem for the last 3 years and am in chronic pain quite alot, was really bad on Friday.. don't think I was in a fit state to be at work or driving home but didn't really have much choice. So I thought I'd pop into the Doctors on the way home to try and get an emergency appointment because I really don't know where to go now tbh (I've had physio, seen pain clinic specialists and been having acupuncture on a regular basis).

Anyway I go in there and there's no appointments for Friday evening which is fair enough, so I ask are you open Saturdays and get a flat no from the receptionist. Then I ask can I book an appointment for Monday as I am in rather alot of pain and really need to see someone, and i got NO you aren't allowed to pre-book appointments you'll have to ring up on Monday morning any time after 8:30am and you will get an appointment. I'm annoyed but go away thinking i'll do that.

Monday morning comes, ring up at about 9am.... there's no appointments left AARRGGHHHH!! I can't be bothered with them anymore and want to move to a different surgery

They are all the same. They also seem to be run for the permanently unemployed with the hours open.

I'm still waiting for results of an Xray taken 11 (yes ELEVEN) weeks ago. they keep saying "phone back in a couple of days".....when you can get through of course.

Re: Doctors Surgeries

Get a plane over to France and
use a French Doc.

They all work on their own, usually in
a converted apartment. No secretary
straight through on the phone and usually
an appointment within 3 days.
(That day if you whimper )

Not difficult really. And no multi million
pound IT booking service required either.

Make me ashamed to hear this and other
stories from the homeland.

Dentist problem? Called mine Friday
before last and saw him last wednesday.
Xray and 1 big filling with a shot.
50 minutes and 73 Euros later: job done.
Money is already back in my bank account.

Again a guy who work on his own with
no support staff.

Why complicate it?

Re: Doctors Surgeries

Mine is exactly the same cant pre-book got to ring on the day but when i was there last time after ringing in the morning loads of people where walking in and booking .

Also why are all the magazines in the doctors surgery all for women there is never anything for me to read so i end up reading all the information leaflets. I'll know what to do if i ever become an alcoholic pregnant crack head.

I don't like my doctors surgery, it's always full of sick people!

Re: Doctors Surgeries

Yes the new 'Catch 22' appointment system works well doesn't it.

You have to ring the next day..but unlike the lottery you really do have no hope of getting in as a) the phone is perpetually engaged or b) all the appointments are taken

Then you try and get a dentist.....ho ho ho.

Then you get to go to a filthy hospital..and they all are filthy mark my words. I was chatting to a lady today who had a mastectomy and she told me the cleaners in our hospital would sometimes spend the whole of their shift on her ward chatting at the nurses post..i.e. they did not actually clean at all.

I went to a funeral in May..it wasn't the foot amputation that killed our friend, its was C Difficile that got him. My Mum got MRSA, and that knocked a good few months off her life as well. Mrs AlfaLincs picked up a really awful uterine infection in the maternity unit after giving birth to our son, and our GP was livid as he was seeing a whole string of these infections coming home with new mothers.

Meanwhile..out in little old Crete, I spent an unintended day in the public hospital in July and watched the cleaners clean the wards properly with bleach and proper stuff TWICE in one day, and every surface got wiped as well. Makes you feel truly ashamed of our setup here in the UK.

Re: Doctors Surgeries

I've not been to the doctors in at least 15 years and hopefully won't need to again. It all sounds a lot more complicated than going to the school doctor was.

It's pretty shocking. Not too bad where I live... fortunately.

I blame the government... but odds-on a lot of you fellows will just trot along to the polling station next election day and vote in the same mob who are bending you over right now.

Re: Doctors Surgeries

Getting a Doctor's appointment is easy. Just subscribe to one of the following, or similiar lifestyles:

Junkie scumbag on methadone
Junkie scumbag not on methadone
Junkie with MH problems (eh..what caused your problem??)
Single mother on benefits (most likely never worked)
Hypercondriacs (mainly elderly but not always)
OAP in need of someone to visit
Jobshy *sshole
Career Criminal

But god forbid if your an decent, honest, law abiding, hardworking citizen who actually pays the taxes that keep the NHS working. You can't be ill, you have to work to keep the money coming in to provide all the appointments for the foregoing!!!!

I wish I didn't have to go, unfortunately that's the only way to get treatment
