Madness Warranty Work - They're Only Making Plans For 'Nigel'

for those of you that don't I'll pop in a small clue

I will start by lending you my Brera demo, or whatever I've got that you want to try. Just let me know when your due.
Regards
A very nice loan car offer indeed but I'd prefer a f:swear:king 'phone call from the Service Department saying they've got a properly ordered carpet - the actual part number is a mystery to them apparently - and a seat base and we can fix it ASAP !!

When I brought the Brera I thought I was moving from a 'budget brand' - SEAT - to a 'premium brand'.... but why does the 'Customer Service Experience' actually make it feel like I've gone the other way

Why Oh Why didn't I buy a Lexus

I don't know. We had the Lexi brochure delivered, sat in the front yard and discussed which 2 we could purchase in loud posh voices, they are nice, but they don't have the je ne sais qua (still unable to spell French words) of the Alfa. I hope that the customer services dept give you a phone call.

I'm sure that someone will be along shortly to tell you that this is just part of the fun of being an Alfa owner, to stop complaining and to be thankful that Alfa UK are in the process of improving the brand. (and that Lexus models suffer with unreliability issues, which they don't)

Oh come on Nomad, what's the problem. Surely you don't really expect them to know who their customers are, what the part numbers are for the cars they sell, or indeed how to fix it. Just 'cos you can perform miracles doesn't mean that Desira of Norwhich can. Just be thankful the monkeys bothered sending you an email at all - after all, you only spent £25,000+ with them

Being serious for a moment though - I do wonder if there is an actual dealer out there which can do a good job. I always thought Mango's was supposed to be good, but having read Hunter's problems I'm now not so sure

True, I've not heard anyone with a genuine gripe against HR, so perhaps they are worth a visit

Well Ateco in Australia are also trying to improve their service.

I go sailing on Wednesdays with my brother and a few weeks ago someone with a towbar rolled back on my car and managed to knock out the lower bar of the grille on my car. I was so cheesed off I decided to ring the dealers using a mobile from the boat to see what the damage repair would cost. The service manager said he would ring me back with the cost. An hour later I rang back and got the same story. Tried ringing three times that day and still got the ''I'll ring you back straight away" blurb. He never did call me back.

Next day I ring back because the service manager still hadn't called. I had a bit of a go at him and how common business courtesy was lacking with Alfa. He totally agreed with me and said he was brought in to rectify that perception. Can anyone see the irony in that.

He finally quotes me $290AU for the grille and says that to replace the grille is only a small job and labour costs were negligible. Just a couple of screws he says.

I thought that was fair enough and asked him to get one in for me. They get it in and in true Alfa tradition the job that was supposed to take only a few minutes was 2 and a half hours labour. They had to remove the bumper to change the grille. Shhheeeesssh. The labour cost much more than the grille itself. There is more to this sad tale which I'll save for another thread.

Definately some dealers out there who want their botties smacked - Desira seem to be one of them.

Re: Warranty Work - They're Only Making Plans For 'Nigel'

If it was my £25,000+ I'd be gutted. But as you mention Lexus here's a story. Lady I work with very 'nice',knows nothing about cars.Took her 8 year old Toyota avenses in for it's MOT and service on a Friday. Good morning Madam would you like to take a top of the range lexus as a loan car? infact why don't you keep it for the weekend.

Bare in mind this is someone driving a £3000 car has it serviced once a year not shown any interest in getting a new one.

Monday Morning takes it back and signs on the dotted line for a £23K car. For no effort what so ever.

It makes good business sense to treat your costumer's right.

I pre-arranged a meeting with Desira's Service Manager (two weeks notice) who promptly f:swear:ked off to lunch without telling anyone as I arrived !!

The complete t:swear:t !!

Not good - shame that Alfa UK's internal reports say that their customer service is improving

Can't hurt to try another dealer

Plus, maybe their loan car could end up being a little better
